Mark Levin on WHK

WHK has brought back Mark Levin's nightly program, running it weeknights from 9-11p.

They still run Dennis Miller, but only from 11-midnight.

Cumulus has been making some inroads lately in Cleveland getting clearances for some of their programming, such as "Red Eye Radio" late nights on WERE (which also now runs Cumulus programs hosted by Geraldo Rivera and Larry Kudlow on the weekends, and ABC News at the top of the hour), and now Mark Levin with his 2nd tour of duty on WHK

It was funny to hear Michael Savage mention to a caller that he couldn't say anything bad about his nemesis Levin because they both work for the same company. He allowed the caller to go off on Levin, however.

That's right...Cumulus recently picked up the rights to the "Savage Nation" after an ugly, lawsuit filled, parting of the ways between Savage and Talk Radio Network.

Even with Cumulus doing more business in Cleveland, don't hold your breath on hearing Savage on the local airwaves any time soon.

1420 ran his show a few years back, and after Savage made a crack about autistic kids, WHK dumped him like a bad habit.

The uberconservative Savage wouldn't fit the predominently urban talk format of WERE.

And WTAM has Bob Frantz for the evening slot, and of course more often than not 1100 has either a Tribe or Cavs game in that slot as well, so forget Savage on the "Big One".

No biggie. Mr. Savage is on lots of big stations, and while he was with TRN, I could hear him on 3 stations. Now that he's part of Cumulus, I only hear him on WJR in Detroit, but I'll fish around in the evening sometime and see where else he pops up.

With CBS wanting to dump markets outside the Top 20 (to buy Sony/Columbia Pictures???) including Cleveland, most likely to Cumulus, you never know .. I could see Cumulus flipping an FM to talk. Although all of CBS CLE's stations do well. With that said.. who's Cumulus' VP Talk/Sports? Mike McVay, who still has a home in CLE. May not happen... but it could.

Entercom would do better for Q104 than Cumulus. I don't think the listeners would want to have to listen to Perez Hilton.

Are we sure that CBS wants out of Cleveland? If so, why did they invest in changing one of their stations to sports-talk? Or maybe they figure they won't get what they want for the cluster in the forseeable future, so they are just making the best of the 'we're-stuck-in-Cleveland' reality.

Well, given the fact that CBS went hard after the Tribe, and are damn sure gonna go after the Browns, I would say that CBS is trying to make a go of it here.

If CBS was in "Oh well, we're stuck here" mode, then they would have just let their stations cruise along as they were.

But given the complete overhaul of 92.3, and the tweaks made to DOK and Q 104, CBS looks like they WANT to be a player.

Still not sure why they brought back Levin and have Miller on.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper to run "The Best of Coast to Coast AM with Art Bell" from 9PM - 11PM and then from 11PM - 2AM run the live "Coast to Coast AM" feed?

1. "Coast to Coast AM" in all it's forms is locked down by WTAM via Premeire Networks

2. I kinda think that the subject matter on "C2C AM" is a little out of Salem's comfort zone
