MARK LEVIN SHOW

This guy sounds so rude to his callers, but at the same time, he sound kine of funny at the same time (Sarcastic).
At the same time, he says to some of his callers "God Bless You"
Your thoughts on his show?
His show airs (One hour delay) here in Boston. It's supposed to air weeknights at 6pm, but their affilate (WRKO) airs them weeknights at 7pm-10pm
Your thoughts?

levin has been around for awhile, and helped grease the skids for bush and cheney. all levin talked about during that era was the bad libs this, and the bad libs that....okay great, but what about your own party of loser corporate pawns, buddy? ill never forget the mark levin, dick cheney pandering suck up interview a few years back. in the last few years, levin has come around sportin some good tea party rhetoric. amazing how great these guys sound when the opposing party is in office. but, put a coors light republican in office and on go the blinders......

He was competing with Savage when he started nationally. So Levin's game was to do the same kind of show, talking about his dog constantly cuz Savage has Teddy... Telling personal stories cuz Savage does it... Being rude to his callers Cuz Savage is rude.

Little does he know that Savage is entertaining and he isn't.

yep, 10-4, and mega dittos.

The nasal screamer.

He sounds like he inhaled too many helium balloons.

More clown radio.

We had a great local host on 84WHAS, but dear ole Clearchannel cut the local host and then appeared Savage who lasted a few months. When ratings fell, Levin appeared from 9 to midnight Eastern time. What good is a tape delayed talk show?

Ky, you have it all wrong. Savage wan on WHAS many years with great ratings. The idiots at TRN (Savage's syndi back then) took him off 'HAS and put his show on the FM talk station WLRS where few other TRN hosts were already cleared.

TRN destroyed the Savage nation.

The problem with Levin's act (?) is the same as all the other conservative talk shows. They complain and complain without offering any solutions. That's also the reason all of their ratings are in the tank.

Ask a young person if they ever listen to the AM radio or FM talk and they will give you a blank stare. It is time for a new approach to talk radio. DON'T TALK POLITICS!!!!! Re-invent. Talk about Movies, TV, Computers, Car Repair, Gardening, SEX, Relationships, or ANYTHING but POLITICS. Radio should take a tip from TV talk. TALK ABOUT ANYTHING BUT POLITICS and the FEMALE demographic may tune in.

Radio needs to get rid of the neanderthal honchos (consultants) that continue to hire old thinking talk show hosts.

I disagree, to a point. Talking about issues should always be a cornerstone of an information station. As a 33-year-old who has been listening to talk radio for 19 years, I have started enjoying other kinds of talk (although Dr. Joy & Loveline are not the answer) because the political shows have recently all imitated each other. For example, Overnight America is a great show and is much better listening than Red Eye Radio or Coast-to-Coast A.M., to my ears. Yes, I'm burnt out on political talk as we currently know it but I think it should still be discussed. Politics are one of the most important things affecting all of our lives. Back to the original topic, Levin's show is still like listening to the sound of scraping a fork across the bottom of a dry pot.

"What good is a tape delayed talk show?"

Three are a lot more listeners than callers. The listener doesn't care if the show is live or delayed as long as the comments aren't obsolete. Tape delays aren't a problem except when there's a fast moving major story in progress. That doesn't happen very often but it does happen.

Frequently stations can get better content by running tape delays of popular daytime shows in the evening rather than live evening shows by less popular hosts.

Savage started on WHAS in December of 2007. Mark Levin's show expanded to 3 hours in February 2009. I believe Savage's show on WHAS lasted somewhere between 12 and 24 months. I don't have any statistics on what his ratings were while he was at WHAS.

I'm sorry I was looking at the big picture of community involvement, as opposed to just ratings. If you can't call in and voice your opinion while the show is on the air, then that's not a talk show. It would be a "listen" show. The station could just as well play a "Fibber McGee and Molly" show from the 1940s and have the same listener participation.

We had a great nightly talk show called "Metz Here" hosted by Milton Metz. He would interview local and national guests on topics and listeners would call in to ask questions and offer their opinions. Metz was a "Joe Friday" kind-of guy who would just present the facts and kept his opinion out of the mix. It must have worked because it lasted over 30 years. Maybe one day radio will shift back to this type of entertainment.

He is a lawyer, I thought lawyers are bad? or at least that is what Savage says..
guess there is room for about 10 national talk hosts.

I think we tend to judge today's talk radio by the "Limbaugh/Hannity/Levin" juggernaut. The popularity of these shows is beyond me, but there's still plenty of great talk radio just beneath the surface. Jerry Doyle, John & Ken, Michael Smerconish, John Gambling (local NY) and others are cranking out entertaining shows every day that include politics and personal opinion but are not based on political sparring. Not all talk radio is mean-spirited and depressing!

In the past, for every Milton Metz (or fill in the name of your favorite) there were dozens of hacks filling up airtime in between the gems. Not much has changed, except that the size and scope of the above named programming mass makes the problem more obvious nationwide. Unfortunately this triad of whiners defines talk radio to most people.

Mr. Levin sounds like a Munchkin.

He puts me more in mind of Walter Winchell (for you radio historians, and those of you
who have been listening a LOOOOOOOOONNNG time). He has toned-down the rudeness
over time. He used to scream at callers "Get off the phone, ya big dope!" Have not heard
that in some time. Actually quite an intelligent and engaging fellow when he stays on-focus.
