Mark Nolan to WMJI

Mark's a worthy successor to Chuck Collier. Plus he subbed and did weekend work at WMJI throughout the 90s (his longtime rapport with the Lanigan & Malone team notwithstanding), so there is some familiarity.

I like the move.

Plus WGAR eventually has to fill their afternoon slot...

Well, Shotgun Taylor has had the shift for awhile now, and he sounds like he's doing a good job.

For about the last coupla months, WGAR has lined up like this:

AMD--Brian and Leeann
Middays--Michael J (VT from the home of the @#$% Ravens)
PMD--Shotgun Taylor
Evenings--Kat Jackson
Overnights--Blair Garner (syndicated from Premiere)

I know for a fact B & L and Shotgun are local, and I believe Kat is as well (correct me if I'm wrong).

Kat is not local anymore. She moved to CC Balt/Wash DC and tracks her shift from there.

Thanks.

Does she work at the same station as Michael J, who also VTs from Baltimore?

UPDATE: WGAR won't bring in someone from out-of-town for the afternoon gig. Shotgun Taylor will fill the slot for good with Kat Jackson returning to evenings.

Sounds like they're staying in-house, which is smart as opposed to going the same route they went when they replaced Jim Mantel, which didn't appear to go very well leading to the replacement being replaced. It also sounds like they're going for separate voices instead of one with Chuck. Now the question is who becomes the WGAR music director.

Article also confirms the hiring of Mark Nolan at WMJI, who I think will do great. :)

Pushed aside? Some guys never get full time because they get in their own way. There are plenty of stories of guys who held themselves back.

I'd be shocked if WGAR hired a music director.

More than likely the music logs will get Borged into the CC "Premium Choice" collective with other CC country stations (a la WNCO/101.3 Ashland)... if it hasn't already been done already.

Mark's been getting some experience this seat sitting in Lanigan's chair.

Seems like he would be a good fit when Lanigan is ready to retire. I will miss John though, as I have listened to him for over 15 years.
