He was 59 years old.

thoughts and prayers to his family and friends. I grew up in orlando and baxter and mark - and my old radio boss carol dedman - kept me entertained many mornings on WDIZ.

Baxter and Mark made me do it was one of the funniest bits ever.........ah, the good old days of radio.

I had the pleasure of competing against Mark when he was on WDIZ and I was on Y-106 & BJ-105. Then had the even greater pleasure of working with him at WHTQ.

Mark was one of the real greats! We used to tell people we were brothers because we did look kind of alike back in the day (when I was thinner and had a mustache). I was always being mistaklken for Samansky and he told me he was frequently mistaken for me. So, we just started telling people we were related.

I can't believe the old "Psycho Magnet" is gone. Way too soon. Rest in peace, Mark.

Back in the early 80s when I worked for KLZ-AM radio in Denver, Samansky worked for KAZY-FM, the sister station in the same building. I had a few chats with him, although I didn't know him that well. But, there were always interesting stories about him -- some of his talents were underused -- but he was always up to something! For example, when something like the "live" academy awards were on TV -- it wasn't really live, it was on a two hour delay in Denver, but the average person didn't know that. And so the teletype wire services would report the "results" a few hours ahead of time. Samansky took advantage of that -- he'd go into bars, pretend he was drinking a little too much, and make bets with the customers on who was going to win. Of course, he called into the station first to find out who DID actually win, so, that his amazing powers of prognostication enabled him to win every bet 100% and rake in the money! I think he switched bars frequently to avoid suspicion! Well, that's ONE Samansky story -- I'd tell more, but I think it might be illegal on the Internet....
