Mark Sebastian Q-102 Incident???

The first link has the infamous Frog In A Blender stunt at the 70 minute mark.

"What's green and goes a hundred miles an hour?"

Does anyone remember their commercials in 1982 where the cute girl was talking about ebn and frog was standing off camera with a pie in his hand? Most of the time he would throw the pie and the commercial would stop right before it hit her and sometimes it would hit her. I remember stopping whatever I was doing and yell for whomever was around to come watch just to see if she ever got it! I wish they would run those again!

If anyone still reads this post, I remember the incident. It was fall 1981 (I think!) Was cruising around in Hamilton, Ohio with a friend and turned to the Q (I flipped between Q-102 & WEBN-102.7) When we heard Billy Squire singing "Everybody Wants You" Of course, we loved the song, so stayed on the Q to listen to it. Mark Sebastian comes on saying he has locked the doors and that the FCC was calling & was going to break down the door, but he didn't care, he was going to do it anyways. Mark starts off saying for the 52nd time here is Billy Squire...We just started cracking up! Now, I by then was on to heavier rock than the Q had to offer, so back to WEBN, Flipping back and forth, last we heard it was up to 78 times! Here 30 years later, I DON'T listen to Q 102, but I still listen to WEBN! Long live the FROG!

No lock on the studio doors at Q102 in the 80's!

The funniest moment came when he returned from his suspension. He apologized then cued his first cut, the Squire song again! Like it or not, it had my whole school talking about it. When the River country station came on I think they played that Garth Brooks song for forever, I believe The River replaced a rock station. I remember tuning in that day to hear some tunes and was struck with "oh no, they went country!"

I too remember when the River song was playing, the station started out with a water drop and eventually became a stream then a river, took like 24 hrs!

When 96.5 flipped to Z-Rock, they stunted with They're comming to take me away for a few days. They played the song foward and backwards.

Mark Sebastian was part of my inspiration to get in to radio! I so miss the 70's Q102. Mark Sebastian, Jim Fox, Bruce Ryan, Tony G, They ruled the airwaves in Cincinnati in the 70's!!!

Mid to late 70;s. Some of us loved the AOR format when Bill Todd programmed them until January, 1974.

It probably happened...and I'm sure it was a ratings stunt...as it always is.

This "stunt" goes back to Elvis and the Beatles...

Bob McCord at WONE, Dayton, played "Sunshine, Lollipops and Rainbows" repeatedly for at least an hour back in the 60's.
