Market #14 or #214?

I'm listening to KKNW (why? good question) and this has to be the most unprofessional operation I've ever heard. Sure, I've been to stations in Bullhead City, AZ and Ashland, OH, but for a station in a market of any size, the board ops appear to be thoroughly incompetent, no caller can hear the host and vice versa, and it's generally got my ROTFL. I know they're basically the joke of Seattle radio, but is there a reason they can't at least sound halfway competent? I guess the kooks buying time aren't paying high enough rates to afford hiring anyone without a crack vial in their napsack. What a joke.

KKNW is brokered talk. So it actually might just be a starting point for young board ops.

Second, KKNW is dead last in the Sandusky stable. And it painfully shows. I think KKNW's alternative talk format is a GREAT idea, but it doesn't appear to be enough of a priority to them to really develop it beyond the brokered programming. So I guess "alternative talk" is just a label for what is pretty much rent-a-station.

I actually bought a show Saturdays 1-2 pm on KKNW for 13 weeks for a company that hired me to do marketing for them. My wife and I hosted it live and the board op wasn't half bad. Of course I sat down with the lad ahead of time and sketched out the format.

I don't think we ever got any actual listener calls except for one very confused woman I'm hoping was a prank.

for sports KKNW carries the Seattle Sounders, Seattle Thunderbirds, Washington Women's Basketball and Baseball as well as Nebraska Football. I enjoy listening to the sports broadcasts on KKNW and it would be nice if they had a decent signal so everybody could listen to the broadcasts here in Tacoma
