I'm from the NYC Metro Area, I post mainly on the New York Board and our suburban Nassau/Suffolk (Long Island) market has dropped to #19.

With Atlanta and Philadelphia swopping positions, I guess advertising rates for both cities may be affected a little.

Thanks,
Kevin L. Sealy

that's a bunch of crap. If I were an advertiser, I'd much rather broadcast to PA/NJ/DE than the Atlanta metropolitan area.

Um, depends on whether you're a smart (and presumably national, if you're talking about having a choice) advertiser who wants to reach a broader audience or not. The $ from Philly folks is the same as the $ from Atlanta.

I guess this means I can add market #8 to markets 6 and 7 to my resume, all without moving ;D

Tell 'em market 4 as well. Just don't mention that you're talking about the television market rankings!

If Philadlephia metro area is 5.8 according to 2007 census estimates and Atlanta is 5.2 M how can Atlanta have more radio listeners?

Hoston- Galveston are 52 miles apart. Dallas-Ft worth are 30 miles apart. Wilmington-Philadelphia are 20 miles apart why isnt New Castle County included in the arbitron ratings for Philadlephia? I live in Newark and get every Philadlephia station clear as a whistle?

I have no idea if this is the answer, but in Houston-Galvestion many of the Class C FM's can run a maximum 100kw @ 2000 ft HAAT, while Class B FM stations in the Northeast are limited to 50KW @ 500 ft HAAT. That dramatically increases coverage. Also, on the AM side, ground conductivity is often much better out there than here in the northeast, which helps AM coverage.

I didnt even think of that, ha!

Because folks in Atlanta buy more radio's .

It may also have something to do with the point of Wilmington has its own radio stations, thus it's own market, and only 1 PBS television station (channel 12 that actually has a presence in Wilmington - channel 61 is completely in Philly even though was licensed to Wilmington). I believe that for TV, Dover Delaware is included in Salisbury Md's market where as I believe Dover is now part of Wilmington's radio market. There probably are folks with better info on this than me (possibly someone at Clear Channel Delaware which has radio stations in both Wilmington (WILM, WWTX) and Dover (WDOV, WDSD, WRTX), who can clarify, but that's my understanding.
