Marketing and Selling Internet Radio/Podcasts

I've had an idea for several years to create a sports network using Internet streaming to do live shows and then posting the podcasts of them.

While I'm not concerned for the content of the product because I've been pretty successful in the sports radio world on terrestrial radio, no one is really doing what I have in mind. I'm just not sure how to go about marketing and selling airtime.

I'd love some suggestions if anyone has some!

One suggestion No one wants to hear a crappy sounding podcast ......people get very serious when they put their money where their mouth is.

so invest money in good equipment

And make sure all your hosts invest in some good equipment too. By that I mean DO NOT just settle for "Whatever" your friends (Assuming it's just you & a slew of your buddies) can get for equipment. As someone who has been (Albeit off & on) a streamer for the last 15 years (Mostly on Live365), I can tell you you WILL lose affiliates of your network almost as fast (If not FASTER) as you will subscribers to your show podcasts if people believe this is an issue

Just my $.02 worth based on experience as an affiliate of a few shows :)

Cheers & 73 :)

There are several companies you can use to handle marketing and sales for a cut. However, you need to be able to deliver sellable numbers.

I'm sure you have checked out other models of successful podcasters. One that comes to mind is Grape Radio. They even have a media kit you can download. While not sports talk, they seem to have their act together. They seem to understand the importance of building working relationships based on working for their client's success.

Maybe I fat-fingered when I type in the search to Google but all I come up with is Wine Radio. Way down in their site I found one presenter with a background in Podcasting and I eventually ended up looking at the site of GigaVox. Did I find the site you were talking about.... or am I lost in the wilderness of cyberspace? (I don't normally use the term "cyber" but the geek in me scouted out the premiere show of CSI Cyber last night. Oh boy!!! I may be hooked.
