Markets with most deleted AM’s

There were two AM radio stations where the call letters were the same name as the town they were in, anybody?

WACO Waco, TX and WARE Ware, MA

WACO Waco, TX and WARE Ware, MA
UR Right! what I can't figure out is that stations in Waco should begin with'K' and before you say it, I know KDKA, KYW, WCCO and WBAP should have the opposite first letter, I think WACO is no longer or WARE is, I think one of them is defunct now.

WACO is on FM only and has been for a number of years now. The original WACO 1460 was moved into the DFW area 15-20 years ago.

I believe WACO got its call letters when the dividing line between K and W territory was the Central/Mountain Time Zone line rather than the Mississippi River. Almost seems like I heard it had a different set of W calls originally and applied for WACO a few years after the dividing line was changed.

WARE is still on, and Kent responded about WACO being FM only now.

That's very interesting Kent, I wonder why they changed from the time zone deal and used the Mississippi River as the designated line, Sometimes in movies you see a local news channel in Seattle or L.A. with the reporters mic. beginning with a 'W" and same in an Eastern setting, reporters of the news vans with a "K" in the middle of NYC, don't these moviemakers know the difference?

No, nor do most moviegoers care.
I'm one who does, I don't care when British Columbia substitutes for New York City and a lot of people do care, look at IMDB goofs "Errors in Geography" many movies have them, so be it if you don't care.

No. There's no "Q" prefix but there was QSKY in the movie "FM".

The last movie that starred Burt Reynolds was partly filled in Knoxville, Tennessee, with Knoxville's MgHee-Tyson airport filling in for the Nashville airport with signage and everything, probably causing some confused passengers.

Check out Augusta GA - Aiken SC market for deleted AMs:
990, 1300 (bith Aiken) , 1190 Johnston, 1310 Waynesboor, 1510 Burnettown, 1480/1630 WRDW Augusta . There are some other rimshotters too like Allendale, etc, Just too many..

The Portsmouth area of NH has three AMs gone. WHEB-FM is on 100.3 MHz but there had been a WHEB simulcast on 750 as a daytimer with 1,000 watts. There was also once a 1,000 watt station in Portsmouth on 1380. And a 250 watt station on 1340 in nearby Madbury NH.

Sure, but you're .0001% of the population who pays attention to anything like that. Movie and TV producers care about the much greater percentage of an audience.

If U say so Kelly, however I would love to see where you got that number, somehow I think it's more your opinion than a fact you found here on the net, so be it.

I watched a cute Christmas romcom over the weekend about a post office where the letters to Santa go. The addresses shown had 6-digit zip codes, but of course zip codes are 5 digits.

I don't think they have U.S. zip codes at the North Pole 😆

Local zip codes. Mail received by people who lived in the town where the movie was set, and by the woman answering Santa's mail, which was forwarded from where she did the job last. It was never explained why she kept moving.

And of course Santa didn't need a zip code since somehow the post office knew to send his mail to her in that one town.

That's OK vchimpanzee, Hallmark movies (especially Christmas ones) anything goes especially when they substitute every American city with either Langley, Maple Ridge, or Abbottsville, B.C. Canada
