marlin taylor of escape let go.

I just posted on the Mel the antichrist thread asking about Escape 78 - this is a travesty if Marlin, radio programmer #1, is let go, and gasoline on the fire would be to eject Escape! I heard the 40's channel was staying (which Marlin programmed, along with Enlighten and Escape) so I thought he was safe?

Mel - the subscribers pay your bills - how about a survey of XM subscribers before you gutted the XM programmers??

This is awful. I thought "Escape" was on the safe list and so was Martin Taylor. I really hope Bob Moke stays on.

Taylor's bio is still up.

The only place I read about his being let go was on the front page of here. No other trade has repeated it in the list of those that are gone.

Can anyone please confirm?? This channel will probably be the reason alot of subscriptions will be cancelled, if indeed it does go off the air.

Marlin Taylor is still with XM-Sirius. He's a member of a beautiful music group on yahoo that I'm also a member of. He put up a post on the group several days ago letting people know he is still there with the company. From his post:

I am here and Escape is here.

As of this time, there are absolutely no plans to eliminate Escape. Management recognizes that there are so many thousands of subscribers who listen to little else … hence, would have no need to keep sending in their $$.

More later.

As you mentioned in your previous post, I didn't see the information, either, about Marlin Taylor being let go except here on radio-info.com. I'm not sure where that information originated, but it's obviously incorrect. Escape is here to stay, at least for the time being. If those folks at XM-Sirius think they can dump Escape and not incur the wrath of the beautiful music listeners (myself included), they're sadly mistaken. ;)

That's certainly good to hear. "Escape" was the deciding factor for me choosing XM over Sirius almost 2 years ago. Now that "Escape" is staying, I'm actually looking forward to the merged content. One Sirius channel I've always wanted on XM is "Movin' Easy." I'm assuming that one is surviving the transition.

I haven't heard any news of what XM-Sirius' plans are on keeping "Movin' Easy". As far as soft adult contemporary goes, XM has "The Heart" and Sirius has two them: "Love Songs" (mostly lighter adult contemporary) and "Movin' Easy"(vocal easy listening). I really prefer "The Heart" because it sounds more like the original soft AC format, incorporating both aspects (light AC and vocal EZ) into one channel. My guess is that only one of the three channels will survive since there's going to be some duplication between them. I'm hoping "The Heart" is kept since it's basically a mix of Sirius' "Love Songs" and "Movin' Easy".

What I like about "Movin' Easy" (at least the way it sounded last time I heard it) is that it only plays AC hits from the '60s to the '80s. That's what I want to hear. XM's "The Heart" plays too much '90s & '00s for my taste. XM did have a good "Movin' Easy" clone for awhile with "Sunny" but of course it is now "The Pink Channel" with a female Jack format.
