marti vs cell phone

I had a remote today. The Marti wouldn't work, I tried like Hell to get the think to come on. But, nothing at all. I called our engineer. He was busy with a computer issue and couldn't help. So, I went to cell phone. Half way through my remote, my GM called screaming at me. Saying I must us the marti nothing else will do. So, what did I do wrong?

Nothing. You did the break the only way you could. If the GM wants to scream, let him scream at the engineer who was tied up someplace else. This is an engineering issue. You had no other choice. Your only other option was to cancel the remote. THEN how loud would the GM have screamed?

I don't think that you did anything wrong especially if you got to the remote well in advance of the broadcast. I agree that the engineer should have been all over this situation. In any case of a remote broadcast I think it is a good idea that you keep a journal (recap) be it good or bad write it down, learn from it or use it as a referrence.

It sounds to me like you gave it your best, using your head. The GM on the other hand is either full of frustration or doesn't understand that barking at a talent before they are about to do a remote or shift or in the middle of one does not produce positive results.

I found a new service from Tieline. It's brand new it utilizies ip address from the new highspeed cell phones, donw side is the cost! Huge bucks to get it going.

www.tieline.com

I did more research on tie line product it's called a tieline g3. You can use it with an IP addressable device like the new ip cell phones from sprint, or verizon wireless. The base unit if you have g3 commander it is already built in ethernet port. I think this will solve lots of remote and sports related broadcast problems.
