Shocking news out of Toronto... Very sad story... Thoughts and prayers to Martin's family and fellow CFNY 102.1 staff... You will be missed friend.

P.S Props to WEDG 1033 The Edge for remembering Martin on the front of their website www.wedg.com class act

Nice touch by Buffalo's Edge. It's a tragic story, but I can't help but think that his life didn't have to end that way.

It's sad indeed, but radio is a business before it can be anything else.
Sure, he was fired from edge102 (CFNY) shortly before his passing,
but when you fall off a horse, you're supposed to hop right back on!

I'm sorry to have learned that he didn't try for employment at Oshawa's 94.9 FM or something...or if he did, I'm sorry to learn that his life had to come to an end instead of just hanging in there...

Who can answer the question "why?" My condolences to Martin's family. He was highly regarded by so many people who are stunned by the news of his passing. Who knows if his work situation had anything to do with his death. Radio, TV and the media are a tough business. I'm not speaking for anybody but myself. Sometimes it's easy to let the business define who we are. This can lead to issues of how we see ourselves when we're fired or come upon hard times, especially when the economy is so bad. Rest in peace, Martin.

this is sad.
this reeeeeely Hit me when,

my xm-radio on xm54,played
"All apologies" by the group that
sings that song....and since it was
a boring satellite-radio/daypart and
completely automated, my mind started
to wander ( while driving none the less),
and... certain songs, when I hear them under
the right conditions, I can replay(in my mind) some of the
voice work that i may have originally heard,
(either live, or station ID,precorded sweeper, etc)
or some one as talented as martin, i could just
imagine what he would say in that ( yea, that )
voice of his....

...so as the song "all apologies" winds down,
i use my imigination and replay (in my mind)
the way he would say that band's name,
(he and only he would say),  nir-vans-quay (?sp)...(nirvana)

It hit me, *RUGHT THEN* and sadden me, I will never hear that again....
unless it is from an air check... and that sucks
because he was soo awesome.

Commentary:
I personally believe he influenced alot of the
sound,imaging and presentation that shaped
the toronto "scene" and landscape.
ie:
MARTIN:
"...in the background, (song/artist), . . . live to air...radio station, edge 102,( may add: phoenix,or current club)

CIDC talents/various DJs: " song, artist, and outro, live to air, (and end on) Z-103"

I miss you, Martin.
Wish i would have made the trip to visit, instead
of putting it off...due to .. . hoping there was always a
next time, sadly i never did meet one of the best.
