Martini Lounge shaken, but not stirred. Name will change, format stays.

Ok. New name suggestion time:

How ‘bout White Port and Lemon Juice? Oh wait, there’s already a WPLJ. How ‘bout the Manhattan? Na, not Philly enough. How’ bout Gin Fizz? No, I suppose not. Way too present format descriptive. How about Tequila Sunrise? Na, apparently the sun has already set on this format. How ‘bout the Screwdriver? After all, it’s what’s gonna happen to the existing staff any minute. Hey what about the Harvey Wallbanger. It’s definitely what Kelly is doing right now. No actually, it’s what his investors have been doing for the past several years. Tonic and Tequila! Now that's for tomorrow morning’s hangover when the investors realize again that they blew 5 million dollars on a short spaced graveyard frequency with basic ground system deficiencies. Yo, I’ve got it!! The White Russian? And put on a left leaning Air America progressive talker socialist channel!!! AHHHHHH. No, none of those I suppose. Let’s face it, it’s going to be straight TalkRadio 1340 with Laura Ingram anchoring the lineup and the rest popular syndicated fare. It’s just a shame that no one beyond 4 miles of the transmitter will hear it.

And hey, when that fails they could always go back to Ectoplasm AM IBOC Skin Radio, and relive this entire calamity like the reoccurring nightmare that it turned out to be.
 
Whatever the new positioner for 1340, one thing that would be good is to ease up on the audio processing a bit The audio doesn't sound smooth at all; sounds like it's quite heavily clipped . I'd back off on the processing, but keep the levels high, and let the music "breathe", so you could hear the details in the music. This was common in the Easy Listening/Beautiful Music heyday, and would work wonders with this type of music. Not sure if any AM station did that here, but WLKW 990 in Providence was a good example....

It's a shame that even after her affiliate count was severed by the Salem issue, Ingraham's been able to get herself back on in some of those markets, and then some.

And if she indeed returns to Philly on a revamped WHAT, the positioner can be "BS 1340".

No, he did not make that up. “Timeless Favorites” is a Nationally syndicated network from ABC radio networks. It’s music scues younger than a standards format, but encorporates some standards artests from the Standards format in it’s selections.

Good prediction - it took a month, but the Martini name is dropped according to the Inquirer in favor of just AM 1340, WHAT. They found people didn't identify with the 'martini' name.
