Marty Thompson is back with the party

Congrats to Marty.

Marty Thompson, John Landecker To Host TKO Oldies Shows

It's been almost one month since the exit of TOM KENT from his syndicated Oldies shows (NET NEWS 7/3), and TKO RADIO NETWORK has hired two high-profile replacements for its CLASSIC TOP 40 WEEKNIGHTS and HALL OF FAME COAST TO COAST/INTO THE 70s WEEKEND programming.

MARTY THOMPSON has been chosen to host weeknights and SATURDAY night live, while JOHN "RECORDS" LANDECKER will host INTO THE 70s on weekends.

THOMPSON, a veteran of CBS RADIO and ENTERCOM in CINCINNATI, and Dir./Oldies Programming for CLEAR CHANNEL/LAS VEGAS for six years, says, "It's time for the THOMPSON family reunion! I'm proud to build on their tradition of awesome programming. The show promises to be more relevant, more compelling and still full of fun! Look for lots of listener involvement, the greatest stars on live with us, and of course the greatest hits of the '60s, '70s and '80s. I'm thrilled to be back playing the music I love for a nationwide audience -- let the party begin!"

Legendary radio personality JOHN "RECORDS" LANDECKER adds, "Yes, 'RECORDS' truly is my middle name. This is so great. It's a perfect match. Let's see -- JOHN 'RECORDS' LANDECKER playing songs from the '70s. What a concept! Look out AMERICA, here I come!"

TKO spokesperson SUSAN THOMPSON says, "We are extremely pumped to be able to offer huge talent like this to our loyal affiliate base, and we look forward to continuing to add new affiliates and to growing listener fans all across AMERICA!"

For affiliate clearance information, contact SUSAN PRICE THOMPSON at (214) 675-3339 or email [email protected].

You'd hope the 'politics' of MWTP wouldn't preclude him from getting serious consideration.

On the other hand, it IS Cumulus we're talking about. Not the sharpest tools in the shed. ;)

Marty should be programming WVMX as The Bull PD.

Hasn't Cumulus had 2 great books with WGRR? Define sharp.

You're taking one heritage stations that's been around nearly 20 years and using them to represent Cumulus as a whole? THE COMPANY- they are not among the sharpest tools in the shed.

Or as we used to say..
a couple of olives short of a burrito supreme.

Ah...so because CC sux as an organization...WEBN and WLW aren't good and their programmers aren't bright. Got it.

But they're beating the hell out of Cumulus everywhere. And, in every way. It's not even close.

Got THAT?

Do yourself a favor and look at the Cincinnati ratings before you post. [EDIT] saying who is better between these two companies is like saying a heart attack is better than a stroke.

2 of 3 Cumulus stations in the top-5 in Cincinnati. 2 of 8 CC stations in the top-5. 6 of 8 CC stations down in the ratings. Got it. Beating the hell out of Cumulus.

[EDIT]

Boasting about CC. My God. An organization that is being broken/falling apart as I type. You would have boasted about the Titanic as you were yelling "I'll never let go Lowry, I'll never let go".

Comparing a couple of D students and actually thinking you are credible.

I was referring to Clear Channel and Cumulus comparisons as companies-both are in more than one market, you know. You must be one of those frustrated ex-CC folks (or ex-CBS or ex-Cox) who had difficulties cutting it in the big time.

Continued success at Cumulus.

[EDIT]

To be honest, I didn't realize that any CC Kool Ade drinkers were still out there. My hats off to you. Keep tooting that CC horn.

It really is a well run organization with a lot of upside to those inside. All the cool kids want to work there.

Great creative programming and an amazing business model for all to follow.
