Marty With Party Has Left The 'DJO Building and More on 'DJO......

I always said I would do DJO as long as it was fun (the pay was insulting, but its fun to be on in your hometown) It stopped being fun when "napalm radio" liners started airing. I'm not sure who is the decision maker there anymore, but I choose not to be a part of what they are doing---

I hope they can make small time local radio work and I hope they "man-up" to their obligations...

Someday they will change their ways. I have faith. They may have to learn the hard way though.

From what everyone is posting here, it appears that DJO has cooked their own goose. A shame but a fact of life. If you folks tune in to Iheart you will never go back to commercial radio. I realize that commercials will eventually come, but the playlist is great and truly 50's and mostly 60's. I have no trouble receiving it on my Mac, my Iphone and especially on my Ipad.

Keep up the good work Marty.

IHeart is working fine on my android-- NDXU what platform are you on?

really not much drama with my leaving DJO--- I'm now hosting 3 formats for CC--- they have been so good to me-- I really appreciate the chance to make radio every day!

The "Real Oldies" format and participation from the likes of "Party Marty" was THE ONLY reason I allowed the surreptitious "iHeart Radio" app to load. I LOVE their format and presentation, but here's the problem... Cell network providers are tiring of those that rack-up huge data tallies due to "real-time broadcast video and audio" – it requires a big-ole-chunk of bandwidth and data talley, and they are GOING TO CHARGE for that. WHEN that reality visits us [and IT WILL], may we be so-disposed to casually burn-thru-bits on iHeart Radio with an additional cost added to our cell phone bill? 'Don't think-so! Sorry, CC, you got it wrong again!

Hence, OTA radio stations like 1480 WDJO have utility. 'DJO has been a good-sounding operation since its inception. I'm saddened by what I read here, and I truly hope that the folks there can sort things out, boost their sales, and continue to compliment Cincy with a good retrograde Pop/Rock/Soul music format via ON-THE-AIR radio! This station started with a good intention – I hope it can find a way to remain such.

I've been listening to them on my Wi-Fi Squeezebox. They are virtually all music marathons with a smaller playlist, but since I'm the right age for them now, they don't sound that bad.

Rodger seems to have completely removed himself from the station operation (probably on advice of counsel) The harder edged programming (The Grange, Purple Haze) plus a photo on the website with Cary Pall in it probably means he has come back to program. I didn't think he left there on good terms, but who knows. Gary Stevens the big man now?

Where did Gary Stevens come from? I hear him also on Iheart Real Oldies on the weekend.

That's Craig Stevens on iheart weekends, BTW. Not the same person.

Gary has been around since the 70s, mainly in sales and direct mail. He's a good guy with a terrific work ethic nad one-of-a-kind personality.

So why is he at WDJO? I guess if the guy likes a challenge and enjoys working for free that's the right place for him. Granted I've only heard from former employees and read stuff here, but that would have been enough to make me run.

Is this the Gary Stevens from Double Day Broadcasting and brokerage fame?

If so, he was an on air guy in Detroit and was pretty popular.

Gary left radio and went into another industry. He left that industry to become Station Manager at WDJO to keep the station afloat.
