Marty With The Party

Marty with the Party...from WTIX in the late 70's is the track announcer at Pimilco Race Track in Laural, MD. not in Laplace.

people hear names from the radio from years ago and name themselves that if it's a common phrase like that.. my guess is this was a fan in the 1970s

Thanks Blair - I guess it is not him. Silly me.

Actually, he's still on XM's 60's channel along with Terry Young (actually on XM as I type). Marty with the Party, aka Dave Rodman, was best man at my wedding and I, at his. I think he took the plunge first. And guess what...neither one last lasted, mine was only 18 months. No surprise to many. He's not from Laplace (grew up near Delta playground in Metairie) and never lived there.

Wow. That's somewhat of an honor to know that I work for the same company as Marty (although, I am a really, really minor player on Sirius13). Grew up listening to him when I was a young sprout in Pascagoula. Marty with the Party followed by Blair on the Air -- now, that's a walk down Amnesia Lane.

I have an XM radio in the Porche (pardon the name drop; couldn't resist). I'll so have to listen.

Pascagoula aye...I believe that was his first job in radio and with none other than Nick Bazoo (Ferarra). After that stint, he ended up at WTIX but Nick was at TIX in '75 doing nights when I first started there. Marty was doing nights on my second go-round after Lafayette in '78. With Terry Young and Mawty, there were some wild times. If you were over in Mississippi, you gotta remember the beach parties in Gulfport in the late 70's and real early 80's. I've got a couple of pictures on my website, http://www.members.cox.net/blairontheair/early.html but have other ones somewhere. Just gotta look.

Just don't know when and what time he's on XM, except for Sunday nights/Monday morning. I'll have to email him.

Last talked to him he's in Baltimore area...XM Sat

He's the track announcer at Pimlico and Laurel Park in Laurel, MD. then swings in and does the XM stuff. Heard him on Direct TV a couple of weekends ago while in Mississippi. Had gotten an email from him and said everyone was sitting around to see what was going to happen with the Sirius merger. I actually convinced my friends in Miss. to re-up their subscription to XM, money well spent. But Mawty Pawty is one of the best in business at calling da ponies. He's highly thought of in the thoroughbred circles but he'd never admit it. Ask Skinny Tom, he'll back me up. I remember his first stint doing it at Jefferson Downs filling in for Rick Mocklin, I believe.

Blair is correct...David is considered one of the best track annpuncers in North America.

I was in Houma the other night, and heard a Marty with the Party on 96.7FM. Is xm sending their oldies format out to comm radio, or is somone else using the monicker?
