Marv Albert Joins CBS Sports

Wow I always thought of marv better with basketball games with TNT and NBC. but good luck with doing football. Who will replace Marv at TNT? or is this like when Jim Lampley of HBO and Mike Breen of ESPN/ABC doing some of the on NBC in 2008 for the olympics?

Albert will still call games for TNT.

(I'm correcting this post because I initially made a comment toward the same point)

I know that Marvelous did some NCAA games on CBS, as part of the deal with Turner and I think He's probably known as the legendary voice of The NBA, and he is closely associated with The New York Knicks, and The Garden. I think things will be working very well with the legendary sportscaster and his son, Kenny-Who works alongside Moose and Goose over on FOX.

Have people already forgotten that Marv Albert used to do play-by-play for some evening NFL games for Westwood One up until very recently?

And to reiterate, Marv is still doing national basketball games for TNT but not the regional games for the soon-to-be-moving-to-Brooklyn Nets.

Incidentally, Marv's former YES partner, Mark Jackson, is giving up his color commentating role for ESPN/ABC (I think he's also been with YES up to this season, but I'm not really sure) to become head coach of the Golden State Warriors.

As well as being on NBC's top announcers when it had the AFC rights? Can't forget that ;D

Cheers :D

When Marv gave up calling NFL games on the radio, he cited wanting to trim his duties and open up a little more free time on his schedule.

Now that he's going to be back in the football fold, I suppose the best solution is to stop calling Nets games.

Good pick by CBS Sports. Did a great job broadcasting the NCAA Tourney this year. Wonder if we will ever see CBS Sports and Turner Sports join as one.

ANY reason is a good reason to stop calling Nets games. That aside, Albert is one of the legends in both radio and television.

I haven't watched any NBA in years, but I remember him for his NBC NFL stint. Glad he's back in the NFL on TV.

Ah ok, that makes sense

too much backbiting over at NBC? (sorry, couldn't resist!) :D

You had to dig that skeleton back out of the closet, didn't you, Fred? :D

And it completely left my mind that Marv called NFL games for NBC-TV, too - thanks, Studio20!
