Marvelous Marvin Boone to fill in for Mark Larsen next week!

Mark Larsen announced this morning that Marvelous Marvin Boone will be filling in for him next week Feb 9 thru 13th on NewsTalk 820.
Mark also mentioned the upcoming rally for all the fired Q105 personalities at Quaker Steak and Lube.

It will be nice to hear ole Marvelous Marvin.... This might be a great guy to put on 820 after Larsen or to replace O'Reilly. I see they have Robert Pankeau doing news this week too....

Good for them. It is so hard to believe that people with such powerful name recognition like Marvin and Mike Reeves can't get new gigs. I love the sound of " replacing O'Reilly".

I heard some of his show Monday.
He sounds great and can really relate to the audience. Was real conversational, talking about Gasparilla.

Marvin sounds comfortable with the format, like he's been a talk host for a long time. I'm guessing he wasn't a talk host before, but by listening to him, you'd never know it. (I only know of his radio experience from this board, Q105).

It's not music he's playing here.
You have to do more talking and hold the audience's interest a lot more = hence it takes more talent than just commenting or chatting between records, time and temp, etc.

I think this host would fit in well at WWBA or any other Tampa talk station that wants a great, engaging local host, not one who only wants to talk politics and how "this party is always wrong."

Marvin spent a year or so as an afternoon/evening host at 970 WFLA, circa 1998.

Why didn't that show last longer? If he sounded then like he sounds now, it would have been a great show.
