Mary Catherine Sneed leaving Radio One

I just heard Mary Catherine Sneed, who started Hot 97.1 back in 1995 (now Hot 107.9) as Atlanta's first hip-hop station, has left her COO job at Radio One. She's had the job since 1998. I'm not sure whether this is voluntary or not, but I'm told that she doesn't have anything specific lined up. Sneed has been based out of Atlanta, though Radio One is headquartered in Latham, Md. She helped propel the career of Ryan Cameron, now at V-103, by giving him the morning show at Hot more than a decade ago. By reputation, she's been a sharp behind the scenes exec, well respected in the industry. She has overcome mondo stereotypes being a white female in the hip-hop world.
