Haven't been able to find out much more yet but Mary K, who not only hosted an afternoon show on Hot 98.1, but was the Program Director of the station following the Summit takeover last year, has been released about a week ago.
Apparently Mark Shands, the consultant for JAMZ, is calling the shots with the music (and was pretty much prior to her departure as well).
It's wild because Hot has had a rocky ride since the Summit takeover. Up and down in the ratings, but in the last book doing surprisingly well. That said, there were a lot of things being said about it's incredibly odd playlist ranging from older R&B hits to current hip-hop to straight up CHR (think of Capital Cities going into an older Mariah Carey song then to Chris Brown). And it appears to be going into even more extreme music swings now.
I don't know how it will turn out for Hot but if they're going even further into a confusing mess of a playlist, I don't see how it could be a good thing.
