Mass Firings Include former Seattle jock - at CUMULUS

Cumulus also did house cleaning today (in addition to Clear Channel 700 job reductions today). One of those affected ... one-time KHIT/Seattle morning man Howard Hoffman. Howard cringes when you mention his "jock" days ... has been doing production for ABC/Los ANgeles for many years (and DANG creative at it too).

Once again I'm amazed at how quickly Cumulus can always find the shortest distance between "DUMB" and "DUMBER" when they inherit a legendary property.

LBB, I think we agree Hoffman was, and is, an excellent talent, whether it be on-air or production. I sincerely wonder if there was another reason he was fired, (perhaps his salary, but just a guess) this was just the excuse to do it. This we will probably never know.
While a different company, the comparisons to Dave Wingert in Omaha are striking. Both true pro's who brought innovation and creativity to their field.

Hoffman likely will land on his feet. That kind of natural talent is hard to find, especially in today's dumbed down radio world. (Sorry, but I borrowed your "dumb" comment, as it was spot on in regard to this, and other situations).

Once again, Clear Channel, and now Cumulus are freaking radio folks out. Not their fault, as they are public companies and have responsibility to the stockholders. But still...

I am fortunate to work for a privately held company that still believes in local radio. My fingers are crossed this will continue, and I have faith in my management team.

They basically cleaned house @ KLOS and a little on the AM side, KABC. Something wasn't "broke" so....
