Massacre at KTUL Tulsa

Word on the street is that everyone not a reporter or meteorologist and one anchor at KTUL 8 in Tulsa was given notice they’ll be gone by December 11. With the possible exceptions of the 6:00 and 10:00 PM newscasts, all news will be produced out of sister KOKH Fox 25 in OKC. I've heard names mentioned through the grapevine but no confirmation of who was given notice and who is being retained.

Don't expect this to be last set of massive newsroom cuts. Scripps, which owns Channel 2, has been widely reported to be implementing a similar strategy nationwide.

A lot has changed in society and media consumption since 1954. Local news is expensive to produce. Many higher than #50 markets can't support local stations running newscasts anymore because the ads are usually from local businesses who aren't buying TV or radio.
