As a company employee, I'll tell you what I'd tell anybody who called up and asked. He's no longer with the station. Even if I knew more, which I don't, it would not be appropriate for me to share on a public chat board. Yes, he is a talented guy and I wish him well.
As a former GM of mine once said, "Some of the best ideas are ones that aren't original." If borrowing from a successful market model were such a taboo, then the Drake format of the late 60s, Howard Stern's syndication, Lite FM, researched playlists and a host of catchy promotions would never have caught on beyond where they started. The ideas that work should serve as models. It's not brain surgery or heavy lifting, but radio is definitely more perspiration than inspiration. That's the case with most things in life. Churning out a consistently effective product involves getting it right around the clock, not just a few stellar moments of creativity from the ground up.
