Matching strips on the NICOM BKG77

Awhile back I seem to remember someone posting about a fix for the matching straps breaking on a NICOM BKG77 or another antenna similar with strapping between elements. Has anyone come up with the fix that can insure they won't rip under high winds? Thanks in advance Bob

Just curious, is the antenna damaged now? I looked at their website and Nicom has a wind rating of 120 MPH. Unless your site is in a potential hurricane zone you should be good. Would the optional radome protect the strips (assuming the tower could take the increase wind load)?

I agree, the strips look like the weakest part of this antenna.

I haven't put the antenna up yet and was trying to determine if there was anything I could do before hand to insure it would hold up. Yes, I'm in a hurricane zone. I doubt radomes could be used as that ups the surface area of the bay and therefore the wind load.

I would check with Jampro and see if they have a better wind rating model. Of course at a higher cost. Check with your local emergency preparedness folks. They should have the "highest recorded wind speed" for your location. You might be OK.

ERI antenna with face mount or anti-torque brackets. Yes you pay more, but it will survive.
