MATEER FUNERAL WAS NICE

Those of you who could be there I'm sure feel the same as I do that Scott's funeral was really nice. I was surprised by the lack of radio personalities who I thought would be there, but I understand it's a crazy time of year and even though I'm an "x" jock, I know how time intensive this week is.

It's interesting how you get content being away from something for a while and then you feel like you don't miss it anymore...but after today and all the memories that were brought to back, I guess there will always be some things about this business that I will always miss.

Hold on to your loved ones this season. Make sure they all know how much you cherish them. Scott's sudden passing is a powerful reason why we should NEVER take life for granted.

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Yes,

Scotts funeral was nice. I didnt really know him, just knew OF him and wanted to attend his service out of respect for a fellow broadcaster. I was also surprised at the visible absence to radio-types there. My sympathy to the family.

Thank you both for posting a review (do DJs have aircheck review sessions in Heaven?). I knew Scott from when he was the goofy younger-brother of a school classmate, was heartsick to hear of his passing. Wanted to attend the funeral, but the only clothes I had with me on the road were some company-logo shirts and worn jeans. I may be one of those DJ- (engineer-) types of which you speak, but as I was raised as a proper Mississippi boy I didn't want to tempt a lightning strike by crossing FBC's threshold in anything less than a coat and tie. I think Scott would understand.

i dont think he would have minded you showing up in a tshirt and jeans. but i was born in mississippi also and i know how people are there. you made a good decision. so long scott. see you soon.

Knew Scott when I lived/worked in Jackson in 90-91. Would have loved to have, at the very least, sent an arrangement. I didn't find out about his death until Wednesday afternoon. He was a mess (in a good way ;)).

Lost touch with him in the late '90's and I do regret that very much. For those of you who were the closest, I send my deepest condolences (esp Sherry).

I never knew Scott personally but I saw him in Tupelo back during the Elvis Festival. He was in town as one of the judges for a talent contest hosted by one of the Tupelo stations, Miss 98, I think. Seemed to be a different kinda guy but got lots of respect from the folks.
