Matt Allen? Dave Barber?? Dan Yorke???

Holland, security at Providence Place isn't less grinchy...just more clueless. This is the mall where an artist colony lived in a secret room in the parking garage for 4 years before being discovered. Maybe they just thought you were Tony Orlando & were afraid you were going to sing.

where the hell is that FM talk station Holland's been preaching about?

From Holland Cooke:
Prediction: You'll get it in 2008.
Likely candidate: WSNE, which will become WHJJ-FM, a simulcast.

If Clear Channel wanted to get FM talk on the air in the market badly enough, but didn't want to touch 93.3, they could always "skin the cat" by a different method:

How's this one for an "out of left field" idea?

?? Just how close is 97.3 owner Edmund Dinins to taking the proverbial "eternal dirt nap", anyway?
What if CC offered Mr. Dinis a sweet easy way to "cash out" of 97.3, along with a contractual agreement to transfer the portuguese language programming to 920 for an agreed upon minimum number of years?

End result?? Talkradio 97.3 WHJJ, and "Radio Globo" 920 WJFD.

How's that for a wacked-out theory! ;D

Feel his navel, dad.

Right now, people are singing "I'm Dreaming of a White Christmas," in every country on Earth...except one.

In Panama, they sing "I'm dreaming of a wide isthmus..."

Has anyone heard anything?

Could you be a little more specific? I've heard of lots of things; but I don't think the board is too interested in what is going on at rehearsals for The Wizard of Oz or what I heard in spanish at the checkout line at Shaws.....:)

As the-guy-who-works-on-my-boat would say...

"...there's your problem right there."

And you ARE correct.
The focus here is everywhere-BUT what-listeners-are-up-to.

Putting-down Hispanics is beside-the-point.
Those folks in line at Shaw's are what we call "Arbitron diarykeepers."
(Hispanics, by the way, get paid EXTRA to keep diaries. So diss them at your peril.)

Don't get me wrong.
I like shoptalk.
I actually make a living on shoptalk.

But the conversation HERE is, generally, about-everything-BUT the conversation "out there."

To "them," the voters, "I WILL TELL YOU THIS..." coming-out-the-speaker is the audio equivalent of the styrofoam peanuts they whisk away as they're impatient to get-at what's-in-the-box.

Holland,

Don't misunderstand me, wasn't a put down, but I don't think the board is interested in the plans the people in front of me had to go to Burger King after Shaw's.....is there something like former WXIN and 92 Pro FM personality Chris Tyler has been elevated to PD at Kiss 108 on Friday? That would be something I heard.....

Never mind that, what ever happened to Pro-Fm bad boy "High" Tyler ? The legendary DJ who had the claim that he had been fired from every Providence Radio station. And Holland, quit screwing around. You have been teasing for months that someone at PRO AM is in hot water, and that the ---- is about to hit the fan. If you know something, stop the innuendo and spill it.

I think you're confusing what-I've-written-here with various provocative posts by Joint-Chinese.

MY consistent assurance to those here who express disappointment with whassup there has simply been to observe that, over the years, "things just seem to work out." When there's lots at stake -- IN ANY SITUATION -- problems resolve.

I like Holland's styrofoam analogy.I checked online. It's cheap to produce and you can grind it up and reform it into guess what:more styrofoam but in blocks this time.Impossible to get rid of.There you have Providence radio.

"Next on Capitol TV, it's The Dave Show..."

I suggested to Dave Barber that -- because there's been such interest -- he post here WHEN the-show-that-got-talked-about-for-an-hour-on-the-radio will air again.

He said that he didn't have hard start times but that it WILL air again, and again, and again...

And Dave fans WON'T want to miss "Manufacturing Dissent," the documentary ABOUT Michael Moore.
Dave's ALL OVER it, and in the trailer: http://imdb.com/title/tt0961117/trailers-screenplay-E35054-314

I actually have a different scenario, a friend of mine works on production of that broadcast. He told me that Da Speaker of Da House didn't like the way he looked, therefore that particular broadcast will never air again. Get ready for Senator Montalbano to make the next appearance.

Now I REALLY feel like Country Mouse...

No cable here on The Block...

I THINK it's already repeated at least once, but, since I can't get that channel, that's hearsay.

RSVP if y'all DO see a replay?
Clamor if you don't...

No Cable on The Block

No Cable on Block Island I see. Do you at least have Dish Network or Direct TV? Also CAPITOL TV should be broadcast on the internet via their website. I don't think that it is. But don't you think it should be?

"Do you at least have Dish Network or Direct TV?"

YAH-mon.

DirecTV for television, and luckily, I'm on a-part-of-the-island that gets Verizon DSL.

You betcha.
It won't be long before EVERY TV channel will simulcast online.
