Matt Allen

Yep. He's got what it takes. He should take all his air checks and search the country for a station that will give him a regular slot.

This is rotten to say , but when I heard Yorke was not going to be on, I thought Thank God.
I just struggle not to switch the station. Oh, but to where? So Yorke has a captive listenership.

What a relief it was for me to have Allen to listen to. Allen is a very good talk host, Yorke is, well, he is upseting to listen to. Annoying. Boring. Phony.
I tried calling Yorke show 3 months ago. I was told they were looking for a younger audience. Guess I sound old. I'm not .. What a stange show, but Yorkes a stange person. And we're stuck with him.
Wpro, fire Yorke, put in Allen. Fire Barber, put in Depetro.
They won't. No GUTS.
Funny how things in life are almost always screwed up. Walter

When Depetro left local talk, it spelled the death of local talk.

Barber = Phooney

Yorke = Phooney

It's a joke. Those hosts are empty suits.
Allen won't get his chance. My God, when he had his chance, they took it away from him.
So, nothing new and REAL.
The overall ratings are down. Any wonder?

Whoever decided to bring Dan Yorke in from New Jersy should be hanged, shot and then, FIRED.
Does ANYONE remember how Yorke wond up here?

With the exception of Matty, I honestly can't find a good local talk show host ANYWHERE in the market. Tune in any station from Providence to Fall River and it's same political crap! All one dimensional hosts who would be lost if politics didn't exist. Don't these hosts realize what a borefest that is??? Well obviously not. They do it day in and day out. I have to start tuning around the dial to Boston and New York before I start hearing people who can do a show not based on politics!

I believe Ron St.Pierre brought Yorke in from Springfield when he was the Program Director of WPRO. Years ago he also brought Geoff Charles in to WPRO. He got rewarded by WPRO by being demoted.

St Pierre should have been HANGED for bringing those two over. Charles is a joke. Yorke is a joke.
Ron brought them over because Yorke and Charles were long timers and friends of his.
I remember a man named Frank Fulton, he and 2 others tried out for the job Yorke eventually got.
Fulton was head and shoulders better than Yorke.
It was all about Rons buddies.

Wpro is 1,000 times better off with Giammarco as P.D.
I believe Giammarco will keep Wpro a light year ahead of Whjj.

Hard to respect a guy who hires his friends over hiring the person who would do the best job! That's why Politics is such a mess. It operates in much the same irresponsible way. Become a brown noser and get a cushy job. No thanks. I'll pass.

Considering what your VO work sounds like you'd better consider some serious brown nosing if you want to move out of Pawtucket. You actually make a living doing this?

LOL.... yeah I'm a horrible voice talent. I really suck. But it's ok. Radio likes people who suck. Tune in any program in Providence for evidence of that. :)

Fox and Cheeks, talk radio horror show!
York did come in 2000 or so, but he was doing try outs with 3 others.
Can anyone remember their names??

I completely agree with Walter.

Fire Yorke and Hire Allen.
Fire Barber and Hire Depetro

Do those two things and WPRO will be invincible 8)

Good Ideas. I like that one! Allen and Depetro on a station is a station that I would listen to quite frequently. How is WPRO's morning show. I don't listen, so I can't really comment. Is Ron any good?

It isn't bad for what it is but I'm still surprised he's still there.Ex-PDs who remain at the stations they used to program don't have a good track record of staying on the job.If he moved at all in this market I would guess it would be to TV and he does have some weekend TV experience.

I remember Ron from his work at WPRI. I always felt that he did very good sports reports. He had a good on air presence and was an overall quality air talent. I would have expected him to become full time. I'm sure that he could have pulled in bigger bucks working on Television than on radio. Maybe he just didn't like it. I've heard a lot of people say that they prefer radio because it's less scripted and more relaxed.
