Matt Marshak - Urban Folktales

Just got serviced with the full. If you like Matt's previous work, you'll like this one. IMO, probably his most complete effort so far. Mostly mid-tempo cuts, so those clamoring for hard, edgy tunes from Matt will be disappointed. But that's not Matt, and he is true to his form here. Several radio-friendly cuts with vibe. The promoters got it right on this one. Their pick, "A Silent Knowing," is a nice tune. On first listen, "For So Long" is my favorite cut, followed by "Cackalacky Cool." "Time For Takeoff", "Back Yard Party," and "Glen Burnie" (the latter of which is the name of the town I grew up in Maryland 8)) are also decent tunes I plan on spinning. The only quasi-vocal on the entire CD is "Tell Me How You Feel," but Matt melds in some real nice guitar work. Overall, I think it is a very nice project that you can go deep on.

FOH Engineer for Matt Marshak

Hey Neal! I am a lifelong Marylander. I live in Severna Park and graduated from Glen Burnie Senior High (can't recall when ;)). Where I come from, I have only known one "Glen Burnie." :D Not sure if it is the same town Matt named the cut for, but I like it nonetheless. Good work! Keep it up. My favorite from Matt to date.

Peace,

Chris

OMG, Neal. Small world!!! I know EXACTLY where the 1590 AM tower is on 8th Avenue. Back in the day, it was WJRO. I have fantasized about getting my stream on that stick one day, or at least programming a Smooth Jazz show there. ;D I know there are a lot of contemporary jazz fans in the area who are starving for the music on radio. Please tell Carl and Matt I said Hi, and I hope to see them in "The Burnie" one day, or perhaps at Ramshead in Annapolis!!!!
