Matt Patrick AND the Tribe next weekend!

Looks like SERIOUS interleague play next weekend. Cincinnati's WLW, gets Matt Patrick from Cleveland's WTAM, and the Reds get the Indians. Any bets on which will be more entertaining? My money is on Patrick. The Indians suck! :D

why would anyone leave large-market Cleveland and a leaderr like WTAM for WLW, a station, quite honestly headed to nowhere?

As far as I am aware, this is a one-time deal. Could it lead to a gig in the future? Sure...but right now, all indications point to this being a one week thing.

Um, doesn't Arbitron rank Cincinnati 28th and Cleveland 29th? And for the time being WLW is still mostly live and local whereas WTAM is about 50 percent syndicated programming M-F.

I thought Paul Keels was the back up guy for Reds broadcasts?

He is. Sounds like Patrick will be hosting a talk show, not doing anything having to do with Reds-Indians.

Correct. Matt will do 12-3 next Saturday. Reds/Tribe coverage Saturday night at 6:05 I believe it is on WLW.

I don't think anyone is going to get a crack at the Reds Radio and TV broadcast team which is the best on the planet. At least not until Marty retires.

I don't think Keels is a fit on the TV broadcast.

I think local sports talk needs some major help though. Egger and McCalister are very weak and should be back ups only. The best is Ken Broo but I guess he won't give up his TV gig. He is top notch and I would love to have in on the evening sports talk show.

I like Ken Broo a lot, he has a good radio voice and a laid-back but strong presence on the air. I'd like him on WLW evenings too, but the channel 5 gig is probably a better job.

If I was PD, I would give Broo a try to replace McConnell.

I think he can do more than sports and would have a very entertaining and thoughtful mid day general talk show.

He also has a very good rapport with the other on air guys and that would be a fit.

Maybe he could then still do the TV gig or it might be worthwhile to give that up for a full time radio job.

I met him a number of times when our kids were in school. Very engaging guy with a wide array of interests. Not just a sports geek.

Although I wish WTAM in Cleveland would keep him. I thought Patrick did a great job at WLW this weekend and sounded like he belonged there. Not so much for the Indians! If WLW brass were listening.. Patrick would fit in well with the other hosts!

Could not disagree more...listened to Patrick on the way down to Cincy Saturday....I was not impressed, from his "full of himself" attitude to his made up incident at Kenwood Town Center regarding a drunk driver and valet....definitely would be a poor fit on the "Big One"...

He was ok. Nothing great. Worked too hard trying to make a Cincinnati connection and it did not sound right.

mole, WLW is the DOMINANT number one station in this market with no signs of stopping.

Now I don't much care for some of the programming they have going on right now, but to say that they are going nowhere is just silly.

I thought Cincinnati just edged out Cleveland in market size? The Best Location In The Nation has been on hard times for some years now.
