Matt Patrick to Houston

Although technically not ours anymore, just wondering if anyone knew what was up with that. Moving or phoning it in from Hudson?

Matt and his family are moving to Houston outright. He'll still be on WTAM Saturday afternoons/evenings and on WLW Sunday afternoons... by magic of an ISDN line.

I'm presuming that Matt's headed to KTRH/740 Houston - their news/talk/sports equivalent to WTAM - for the late afternoon slot. Currently, KTRH's early evening host Michael Berry bounces around KTRH, a preceding show on KPRC "The 9-5-0 Radio Mojo," and a midday show simulcast on a few stations, including KEX/1190 Portland.

But for all I know, he may be hosting shows on both KTRH and KPRC not unlike what Berry is currently doing.

Patrick heir apparent to Lanigan? Funny. If there is one it's Malone... if he chooses to stay on once John retires.

...and even then, one wonders whether or not Malone (and/or Kullik) would even WANT to continue. Both have had very successful ventures outside of radio for many years now. It's not incomprehensible in my mind to see all three taking one final bow all at the same time.

When Lanigan retires, 105.7 either becomes WTAM-FM, or another automated jukebox like The Lake (Gen-X?). I can't see WMJI surviving the colossal ratings and revenue hit that will take place once L&M depart.

You could make a case for Matt replacing Triv or Frantz if they ever left, but not really for Lanigan. IMHO.

I'm betting on Matt being on one of the Clear Channel stations mentioned above in Houston. He's still doing his WTAM show and WLW fill-in, of course, and he's probably using CC studios in Houston (he just got there) to do it.

It'd get kind of complicated if he was about to debut at a different cluster in Houston, though maybe CC Houston would still let him do the shows for the two Ohio CC stations from their studios...

The press release is now out: Matt will become the new morning host for KTRH/740 Houston. Lois Melkonian will be Matt's co-host and news anchor, joining the station from KOA/Denver.

Both Matt and Lois replace KTRH's heritage morning news block headlined by Lana Hughes and J.P. Pritchard, so there are some big shoes to fill.
