Matt Patrick

On some previous threads we have discussed past morning show hosts like Jeff Kinzbach. I have to say that I have not listened to WKDD since Matt Patrick left mornings. His replacement has been sub par at best from the farce that was the search for Matt's replacement among hundreds of applicants the person who was doing the hiring hired himself. I am glad to see that Matt Patrick has landed on his feet in Houston and came out better for it but WKDD in the morning has been horrendous since he left.

Yeah! That guy sucks!

Oh wait.

My favorite lines "I have to say I have not listened" but I just know "Mornings have been Horrendous" despite not listening at all.

I have listened, until I could not take it anymore and then turned the dial. KDD used to be my favorite radio station, now to say a shadow of its former self would be giving it too much credit.

I wish there was a "like" button. I don't listen, but as a fellow Wayne Countian, I have respect for you Keith.

OK I correct myself I did listen a couple of times on and off. But of course Mr. Kennedy did not address what I said about his supposed search where he just chose himself. WKDD is a shell of themselves. BTW, a word to the wise if you want to keep alienating your listeners who want to listen to music keep posting your left wing politics on your facebook page. If you want to do a talk show fine but people want to listen to WKDD for music not your political views.

First, WKDD isnt my cup of tea radio wise so I don't listen. However, if Keith is the PD/Manager, he can do what he thinks works, and if he thinks putting himself in the morning spot works for WKDD, more power to him..As far as his Facebook page, he ought to put what he wants on there..Like anyone else..

He can put whatever he wants on his page however when he puts out his opinion he complains that people don't like his opinion. Any smart host will know better than to alienate half their listeners of a "music" station by pushing their political beliefs on facebook. Adam the Bull on 92.3 knows this well. He has stated numerous times on his show how he wants to make a political statement (no idea which way he leans) but he has the smarts to know that 50% of the people are not going to like it and tune out. I am just giving my personal opinion take it or leave it. Just don't get upset there Keith like you've been doing when people disagree with you is all I am saying.

Seems to me people can like a radio personality without regard to that personality's beliefs one way or another. If I liked the music WKDD plays, I'm sure I'd like Keith's hosting..And I'm conservative. If someone can't separate the personality from the politics, then there's a problem..

My whole point was no need to alienate your audience. When I was listen to Rush or to Ed Schultz I know what I am in for. When I listen to WNCX I am not interested in Michael Stanley's views on global warming I want to hear classic rock.

99.9% of people who post on this or any radio-oriented board are in no way typical listeners or viewers. The average person could care less about most of what we all talk about.

Matt has reinvented himself as a talk show host, proving there is more to him than what he was doing for years at WKDD. I do think Keith is going what he can with 'KDD, and he does have a following. He's also done very well with his stations (especially 101.7). The morning show is different with Keith instead of Matt, but who could have really fill Matt's shoes at 'KDD.

A the person who helped teach Matt how to run the control board at one of his first parttime on-air jobs back in the late 1970's,...I'm happy to hear he's doing well in Houston. Also worked with Matt later in both of our careers at WKDD/WSLR in the 80's.

That early parttime job for Matt was at WCUE Cuyahoga Falls (AM 1150, top 40)....also owned WCUE-FM/WKDD "mellow rock 96" way back when! :)

WOW! That is cool to know. Nice to see how he went from part-time to where he is today. Question: When did WKDD flip from "Mellow Rock" to Top 40?
