Matt Patrick's Blog

What's the saying? If you believe any of that, I have a bridge to sell you ...

The latest blog about Matt's running for charity is terrific. But there's no way he decided to leave WKDD - it was decided for him. The second entry down talks about how he's "on the beach" - a term for being canned - and is nervous about the future, bored, looking to God to come up with something, etc. Doesn't sound like someone who planned all along to leave. Very, very few folks in this economy would leave a good gig like mornings at WKDD for a bunch of question marks or some weekend shifts at WTAM.

Of course he gets along with Triv - they DO have a lot in common. Unfortunately, those things are, IMO, very negative so they're best left unsaid. Triv lost his wife and Matt is looking for a new career move - I wish them both the best.

When all is said and done, Patrick got a raw deal from WKDD..he delivered numbers, increased his workload and in the end, ended up "on the beach"..he had been promised syndication from Clear Channel, in fact talked about it that famous morning when the Fox Sports Station was blown up for Air America..and it never materialized..

Don't know the man, don't wish to know him, but wish him the best..

LOL!! Yeah..and the numbers for that pitiful excuse for a morning show today are better? No they are LOWER. That would be BOTH stations. I don't know the man either. I do know.. that you don't have a 30 year career at one station because you suck. I didn't agree with what he said most times..but the way he said it was interesting. I can't say that for what is trying to be passed off as a morning show on WKDD today. It's unlistenable!

Plus Matt will be guest-hosting on WLW - the top station in Cincinnati - next Saturday. That, along with doing fill-in and weekend work on WTAM, have helped increase his profile far, far beyond WKDD or WHLO.

You really ought to check out the post dated July 23. Matt opens up about his battle with alcoholism and it is quite a remarkable read.
