Matt Pinfield (KCSN) suffers debilitating stroke

After not being expected to walk or talk again, Matt was host for the Hollywood Walk of Fame Ceremony today honoring Green Day. He walked with a cane, but looked unbelievable and had no noticeable changes to his speech. I would *never* have guessed he was not even expected to survive back in January.

This was incredibly encouraging to see and I'm homing he makes his way back to KCSN afternoons, though I don't know what kind of workload he's capable of (or even wants to handle at this point) given that he seemed to be doing a lot before the stroke but also seemed to be in good health. Regardless, very very great to see him out and about again

That's great news, I remember Dick Clark never sounded the same again after his stroke.

Matt has done a few things in the past month and his voice sounds the same. Leslie Fram has still been guest hosting Flashback, but I'm sure they record those Jeopardy/Wheel of Fortune style, getting several weeks of shows recorded in one day. Hopefully he'll return to that show soon!

Matt was on for the 5pm hour Friday with Mookie hosting, discussing his recovery journey and making the teased "big announcement", which was just confirmation of the article from earlier this week saying he'd be back hosting 4-6p starting Monday. It was interesting for him to note that as miraculous as it is that he can walk and talk (and is still alive), his memory and musical knowledge is also intact (telling a story of explaining how Procol Harum's "A Whiter Shade of Pale" got its name to nurses at his bedside after waking from his coma).

I imagine he will ease back into his schedule for a while. He sounds a bit labored today on his afternoon show, but otherwise no change in his voice.

More good news as Matt Pinfield returns to his syndicated show Flahback:

I believe this show airs on KLOS.

How many rock stations are left to carry his show.

I know it's on quite a few classic rock stations, including most Cumulus classic rockers where it fits format. I don't know of any that dropped the show during the past several months when Leslie Fram was subbing.
