Mattie and Jim Walker out at Channel 11

I can see both sides in this issue:

A) Jim was an employee of CBS11/Viacom and more than likely signed a contract that stated he could not participate in outside events without clearing through managment first. In that case, he doesnt have a leg to stand on

B) Seeing the part of the country we're in and the general attitudes towards GLBT (Gay/Lesbian/Bi/Trans)persons, The reaction from CBS/Viacom riding this guy out on a rail does look suspect.

My take: CBS 11 and their actions in this matter looks supect. Jim was reporting a story far and wide away from any GLBT issue and made an honest mistake, which many reporters have done. But what he did was that, a mistake. I have seen far worse journalistic exploitation daily from crosstown rivals WFAA and KDFW and yet the Becky Olivers and Gary Reaves are still allowed to practice their craft. Sounds to me theirs something more at foot than just a journalistic mistake.

Sorry, the link was only for the Jim Walker part (isn't he the same as 42nd Street's Big Jim Walker; he's a bull-shootin' son-of-a-gun.)

The link came from D's Front Burner, which made a casual mention of Mattie in the same posting. No idea why she got canned. Maybe they caught her over at Ch 8, auditioning for Alexa's replacement.
