Matty Loses New Hampshire

CC is looking for trouble if they call it 95.3 The Coast. Coast 93.1 owned by Saga is in nearby Portland. 95.3 can be heard in Portland.

Maybe they will make it Adult Hits like the Harbor in Boston with that Coast domain only as a decoy/smokescreen?

Oh wow, and they're actually calling it Z107! It looks like a direct ripoff of Z100 in NYC, which is sad, but not too surprising. I think it's still WERZ, and it used to be CHR back in the early 90s, but then I think in 2000 or so it started to lean Hot AC.

I think 95.3 is going to flip to a variety hit's format similar to The Harbor as I saw a post on Facebook telling a listener that they will be back Tuesday (today) at noon and they are going to be playing "everything".

The AC format doesn't make much sense, but a "play everything' format would fit in nicely and not take away listeners from CC's other sister stations in the seacoast market.

As far as Matty no longer in the seacoast, it makes me wonder if he's the big hit up here as he is in Boston, as this makes two stations that he's been taken off in favor of Elvis Duran: Kiss 95.3 prior to 2010 and now WERZ.

I actually just thought of something REALLY ironic and a coincidence...I never really got WERZ where I live, but I remember hearing about it years ago on NHPTV because it was often one of the local sponsors of Sesame Street, and today's the day that we've lost NHPTV.

And what if, in the unlikely event, Matty is canned on Kiss 108? They'll have voice tracking 24/7 like Coast 93.3 in Providence.

If that did happen, it's safe to say you'd be hearing "Elvis Duran and the Kiss 108 Morning Show".

Speaking of Matty, he was featured on Friday, October 5th on WCVB's "Chronicle" in a show titled "Lines of Communication". The first segment was all about Matty and his career and lasted about 5 minutes. Channel 5's Shayna Seymour interviewed him and I very much enjoyed watching it.

Matty just signed a 5 year deal last year. The ratings and billing are good for his show and station. They won't fire him and then have to pay him to sit on the bench.

When this 5 year deal is up, anything is possible.

Anyone know if WHBA/The Harbor and WSKX/The Coast are both airing the same playlist yet? Or is 95.3 doing 10,000 songs in a row commercial free first?

Just about everything in radio is an idea borrowed from someplace else. Radio programmers are the most uncreative people on earth, even their memos all sound alike.

You're always such a negative nancy, with these big broad unsubstantiated statements. There are a lot of incredibly talented and hard-working programmers out there doing the best they can. When you're working in a 90+ year-old medium with literally tens of thousands of stations, there's a really solid chance that anything you try has been tried before.

What's your groundbreaking idea that's never been tried anywhere else?

I wouldn't say Matty has lost NH. Most of Southeastern New Hampshire (therefore a good chunk of NH's population) is easily in Kiss 108's signal range.
I remember as a kid in Portsmouth flipping between Z107, Kiss 108 and WZOU.
