MATTY NEEDS 7 PEOPLE?

If you go to Matty's page on the Coast website there are 8 (including Matt himself) listed as part of the show. OK so the main players are Matty, Billy, and Lisa but seriously. It's 2010. Stations are cutting people left and right. Granted some of these people play small low pay parts and I'm willing to bet even consistent listeners don't know who they are, but a morning show that takes 8 people to get on the air? I realize he's an institution in Boston but as the years go on and he gets older and possibly more out of touch with what the format requires of him, how many people is he going to need? Good to see some stations have money to blow.

Well it must be because of that, that the number 1 station in such a large market can't even afford to have a live/local personality on middays or nights. But at least they have someone in afternoons, so that makes the situation better than Providence I suppose...

Ten years ago people were saying Matty will be out of touch with key demographics. Hasn't happened yet, and his audience is bigger than ever.

In my opinion Matty is by far the best local morning show in this area. He has the two things I look for in a good host. Someone who is genuine and witty. He isn't one of those screaming Morning Zoo type shows where the host tries way to hard to be something that he is not. He is himself and he happens to very entertaining at the same time. He is very comfortable in his skin and that comes across very well on the air.

You can really tell a true radio Pro when it's time for them to interview a celebrity. Does the host sound like some star struck kid who can't believe who they are talking to. Or.... does the host keep the same tone of voice and sound like he's chatting to a friend in the kitchen? If the host kisses ass and sounds like it's a big deal to be talking to this celebrity, than to me that equals a bad host! However if the host can bust some balls and sound totally comfortable and genuine in doing it ... THAT IS A GOOD RADIO PERSONALITY.

Way to many hosts try to "ACT". Acting makes for bad radio. I can see right through it. Maybe some people eat it up, but I personally hate it. Not nearly enough hosts know how to just be themselves on the air. Matty knows how.

It's NOT that KISS can't afford the dayparts in question, rather Clear Channel's philosophy is to not be live in those dayparts, anywhere. The show is super successful and generates a ton of money for CC and I'm sure the return they get on paying the minor players on the show the salaries they receive is vast.
