Matty's first day on Coast 93.3

For Southern Rhode Island and Eastern Connecticut I guess this could be exciting. A new morning show for you. For everybody else it will be a day where you can hear the same morning show on both ends of the dial. Maybe I'll tune in two radios and see what the difference is between both signals. Then again maybe I'll just sleep in. I'll go with the flow and see what happens.
 
When you click on his photo on the Coast website, everything is KISS, KISS, KISS. And what is it with that photo of him with Sean Paul doing the 3-finger thing. What is it with those finger motions & should anyone over 21 even know what they signify? I have my own finger thing for what they've done to some of the people at both Coast and B101.
 
Holy Cow. Even being at the website makes it feel like everybody has left the building. You've got Matty from Boston, You've got Seacrest in Hollywood, John Tesh in Hollywood and only one local voice from what I can tell. How long do you think it will take before she's gone too? Welcome to the new face of radio. To bad all the faces live out of town.
 
Kristin Lessard will probably voice track mid days as long as she's on the B101 morning show.As far as the website couldn't they just put a bio of Matt up instead of a link to everything on Kiss108?It's like buying a Big Mac and finding a picture of the Burger King king inside the wrapper?I don't think Clear Channel itself has any hopes for Coast so they will just run it cheap and get what they can get.
 
I just woke up and I'm not about to listen to 4 hours of whatever I missed this morning. But I sampled the tape. From a technical standpoint it was kind of a mess. Many Kiss 108 ID's and Bumpers were aired on COAST. As a matter of fact it appears that the Board op just left the room and didn't come back for 4 hours. It sounds almost like a direct feed of Kiss 108 with nothing eliminiated locally. Maybe I'll post the whole show later. But right now here's what I can offer. The first 3 minutes of the show below. You guys are pretty brutal for the first day. If there are problems after week I'll understand the complaints. Give them some time to work the kinks out before you bash em! If there are still problems then, well bash away because it's needed. Just cut them slack on the first day!

Well my original post said just that. It was their first day and I guess it's understandable. But all the text from that post went into nowhere land when I made the mistake of back clicking to get the audio link that I forgot to copy. In any event.... don't read to much into what I wrote. I was just giving an honest account of what I heard.
 
I was surprised that the Kiss 108 CHR music was played on 93.3. I figured they would be inserting their own Hot AC music, like what is done with Seacrest, Tesh, etc. Obviously if they're going to carry Matty live, that will be a problem. So Apparently they're going to be Matty/CHR in the morning, and Hot AC the rest of the day. Maybe things will change in a few days.

A well formatted schedule would make it possible for "Coast" to totally customize the show. But I guess it's tough for a morning show to stick to such a clock. Then again I hate to make excuses for other people. Hot 106 did great with Stern. I've never heard any problems with Imus either. With all the music Matty plays I can understand where it would be tricky to rejoin the show and make it sound seamless. But I'm sure there is a way. Kiss should now start using some specialized outcues and bumpers. They can't just act like they are only on one station anymore if they are now going to be syndicated. They've got to accomodate affiliates a little better so that the show doesn't sound like crap on other stations.

I don't think anyone is bashing Matty himself. It's just the typical bass-ackwards way of doing things there. Not just glitches but just the whole idea that the show is being run on Coast in the first place and now apparently complete with CHR music. BTW I think the extending 3 fingers means love but someone at Jamn probably had to teach him that.
 
I just noticed that Matty doesn't even appear until 23 minutes and 30 seconds after "Coast" first starts airing the feed. I think Matty is great. But his show relies to heavily on music. How about more matty and less music. That would be nice. Just an observation.

Yeah, with the success of the show in Boston, I don't think anything's changing for a spoke on the Premium Choice wheel!

So they've essentially transplanted a Boston morning drive show "as-is" into Providence? They oughta be charged with misdemeanors just for trying to sell spots. On the link for online advertising on the website it says "get local and advertise on this website". How'bout Coast trying to get local before they expect potential advertisers to?

i couldnt have said that better myself and as far as cutting them slack for the first day...... i wouldnt cut them any, the fired tad before anything was set in stone, ran jockless for over 2 weeks when they coulda been workin out kinks in the mean time....... just plain horrible i think providence deserves just a little better then a boston morning show.... its no secret people in this market like LOCAL!
 
Why does anyone need this radio station? I will grant you Matty does do a good job but I don't listen to him enough to know how "Boston" his show is as opposed to how much of it is celebrity chatter. Still, this place is doing nothing more than rolling with what others are accomplishing in radio and making it their own. There is no effort whatsoever and while she does a decent job I don't count Kristin Lessard's voicetracked midday show as effort. It may be effort on her part but not on the cluster's. It's even more inexcusable than what goes on at B101 after morning drive. How many jobs have been lost at a time when there are no other jobs around so Clear Channel can screw with employees and audiences? They are clueless
 
Just waiting to see how long it takes before we have WHJJ-FM. CHR in AM Drive and Hot AC the rest of the day....who can say trainwreck?
