Maxwell Gone??

Listening to Rover this morning saying that Maxwell has been fired as of Friday.

If this isn't a hoax, it this another way of Clear Channel hosing someone who beat Trivisonno in the ratings?

I just checked and the link for the Maxwell Show is gone from the WMMS website.

Also heard a rumour that Triv has quit WTAM. If this isn't a stunt, maybe Triv leaves WTAM and goes to WMMS? The way CC is screwing up their stations, a blunder like that wouldn't surprise me.

Maxwell made no secret about these three points:

1) He was unhappy over WMMS's attention towards Rover's show, in terms of contests and promotions. That possibly was the genesis for the infamous "Metallica performing in the station parking lot" fiasco on April 1.

2) His previous contract was negotiated without his retaining ownership of his show podcasts and his website.

3) He would leave when his contract expired.

This probably had less to do with CC management letting him go to protect Triv. If that were the case, Max would have been dispatched much, much earlier.

Do you think Rover is hired by CC to be a local show or as show that could go into syndication?

Rover failed in syndication when with CBS. I don't see CC (Premiere) syndicating the show. Show isn't strong enough.

VO Dood is correct..People that have real creative jucies really seem to have issues when working at WMMS..first Slats, now Maxwell..Rover's show is a Cleveland thing..his CBS tenure was a disaster of epic proportions, with many of the issues really beyond his control..so if Maxwell is in fact gone, where does WMMS go from here?

Here's an idea for MMS...

How about shutting the f*ck up and actually playing music in afternoon drive?!!!

GOD FORBID a so-called Rock station actually play ROCK when people are in their cars!

Bring back the Buzzard & the Boom imaging. No one will notice someone's missing if they rock like they used to.

If Shane French actually bothered to surround himself with talented people, he could have a second shot at syndication. Don Geronimo and Mike O' Meara had for almost twenty years a very good support crew (Buzz Burbank, Robb Spewak, Beth Ann McBride). At least, they aren't hacks like Dumb, Dieter, Duji or Mike Toomey (who all play off as bad imitations of Phil Hendrie characters).

As long as Shane sticks with those losers, he will only count his simulcast in Rochester as the furthest extent of his syndication... regardless of the mythical "third station" he hyped about months ago.

I agree. Whichever one of those is the woman is awful, she is the epitome of the annoying female that all dumb morning shows seem to have. She has a grating voice and stupid opinions on everything. The problem is that Rover probably can't get anybody better because that would require Cheap Channel spending money, which we all know won't happen.

I thought Triv quit? I listen so little I wouldn't know but still hear his promos running the rest of the time. Was that just a stunt or a rumor?

Duji's been with Shane's show since it started at CBS Radio in 2004. I guess Shane just has a high tolerance for total incompetence, which would probably explain why he hired the rest of the cast - as well as "DJ Jazzy Jim," Mike Toomey's board-op equal during Shane's CBS Radio tenure. I have NEVER heard Duji do a decent newscast - "The Shizzy" ::) - in the times I've listened to the show (which has fluctuated, off and on, for the past year-and-a-half).

Plus there's the saga of her trying to become a mother, which is insane in and of itself... I feel bad for the kid (if that isn't a sorry stunt). -_-

My understanding is Duji and Rover live together. Have for a couple of years. If she's preggers, it's his. They do a great job of hiding it on the air, because that makes the most sense for that audience and that show.

Please give me ONE station outside of their home station at Don and Mike has ratings on.

Wow, I didn't know that he's on in Rochester. If he can beat Brother Wease there I would be really impressed.

To be honest I always thought Maxwell sucks and I would rather see Rover do well than someone like Bubba the love Sponge or Mancow. To me, while Rover isn't the best thing, the show feel real and honest compared to other "shock jocks" on terrestial.

That's his lone affiliate left from the Howard Stern-replacement fiasco. All the other affiliates either were sold off and changed format, flipped over to sports/talk or just flat out dropped the show.

I think that's why Rover has lasted for so long over there - he was simply used as a flank to protect Brother Wease when Wease still worked for the same cluster (Entercom, and before that, CBS Radio). Now that Wease works for Clear Channel, and The Zone was divested to a small-station group, it's probably a different story now.

But it's really a stretch to call it a "syndicated show..." much like the latter months of Mitch Albom's syndicated program (which at the end, was ONLY carried on flagship WJR and WEOL/930).

Well I give credit to someone who is on in two markets, more respect to someone who's on in two states but if the reason was to keep competition out to defend Wease then I guess it's a different story. On other hand, if Rover can't beat the Breaking room and Wease there's not much hope that he will ever happen on a national level.
