Maxwell to be fired at the end of the month

I have heard from strong sources over at CBS that the Maxwell Show will be cancelled by the end of the month due to increasingly bad ratings. He has a 3 yr deal / 1 yr guaranteed. CBS will pay out the rest of the contract.

i don't want to not be able to hear them for 6 months or whatever, but maybe moving to a new station would be a good thing.at least a better station for their type of show I mean, one that will either put them on in the afternoons, or offer a god damned podcast at least!

anyway, looking at it, the show doesn't have any upcoming appearances...

Maxwell needs to be on 92.3...it's that simple.

Radio 92.3 is a better fit for the show--Maxwell is more of a modern rock guy, and is a mismatch with NCX's classic rock format.

NCX should just flip the switch, pick up Bob and Tom, and be done with it.

Yeah, yeah...B & T never lit the world on fire here before.

But it fits with the classic rock format, and it's cheap, so economically it would work.

If B & T do find their way onto NCX, it'll be their 7th different morning show in the post-Stern era (beginning 1-1-06).

But that would mean CBS would have to continue paying him and his crew after they fire him... Assuming that is the case, of course. I've heard that they are happy with their nice and cheap no-personality juke box on 92.3. For stations that let their computer automation system be the show, I like to say that the name of their drive-time host is Del Comp... (Dell computer-get it?)

92.3 is a non-starter. The signal sucks west of Lorain (no thanks to WOHF/92.1 Bellevue AND WVKS/92.5 Toledo) and south of Akron (no thanks to WDJQ/92.5 Alliance). It's better off being what it is, as an automated jukebox ala The Lake. Plus it keeps CBS from slashing personnel on WDOK, Q104 and WNCX even further.

If NCX is stupid enough to somehow sign up BOB&TOM, watch for the REAL cascade of laughter to come from 6200 Oaktree. You think MWL got "bad*" ratings? Wait until every other station in town thoroughly takes B&T to lunch, and then some. They wouldn't last a year on NCX, and you and I know it.

(*minus any reputable data on my part)

Heh, considering how many of your posts have repeated the same rumor, I approach the whole issue with the utmost of skepticism. :p ;D

Meanwhile, I wouldn't be surprised. CBS may be cheap enough - and dumb enough - to pull the plug. They were dumb enough to put him in an incompatible time slot on an incompatible station in the first place.

Yeah, as of now, becker5 has no credibility. You are either Chad, because he would do something like this thinking he knows anything about radio, or one of his dopey hack comedian friends just trying to ride his coattails.
Anyone with any radio experience can tell you that Zumoch's radio talent is equal to a radio listener. Alan is the show. He's a great talent stuck in a dumb position.
And hating Maxwell is useless. He didn't make CBS hire him. I'm sure even HE knows they don't belong on NCX, but who's he to refuse a good paying gig??

Until you know anything...you don't.

yeah, they are actually making Maxwell use facebook and twitter everyday now. i don't think they would go to the hassle of arguing with him and making him do that (that couldn't have been a fun meeting to be in for Tom Herschel knowing Maxwell) if they were gonna fire them in a couple days

Not sure what your credibility is unpwn but I know a few people over at CBS and it doesn't look good for Maxwell. Ive never worked in radio but i've been around it long enough and know a few people in the business. Curious about this Chad accusation and where that stems from? I enjoy him as much as I do Alan, and I make no apologies about that. They have a great show. Maxwell wasn't a good fit at CBS and his show probably ran it's course, It was always a one-trick pony that didn't have the longevity to sustain good ratings.

So, Becker, when does 92.3 flip to all-sports? Or is that a rumor being peddled by someone else?

I can tell that the people you know are sales people and, quite frankly, they know nothing. They know what the programmers want them to know. Blaming Maxwell for their lack of sales talent is a cop out.

I don't need credibility because I'm not dishing out "insider info".

Not just sales people, I'll leave it at that.

Who do you think you are, Roger Brown? Word is you're recirculating unconfirmed idle speculation.

We'll know for sure if he comes up with the sale price of Maxwell's home.

A quick check of WNCX this morning, just now, shows "The Maxwell Show" is indeed airing. End of which month?

So if at the start of each month, you make the same prediction someday you'll be right? Even if it's 12 years from now, we'll still get the I told you so....?
