1928: Actor Pernell Roberts (Bonanza, Trapper John MD) is born in Waycross, Georgia.
1934: Actor/producer Dwayne Hickman (The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis) is born in Los Angeles.
1968: The Prisoner has its U.S. premiere on CBS.
1970: Writer/comedian/actress Tina Fey (Mean Girls, Saturday Night Live, 30 Rock) is born (as Elizabeth Stamatina Fey) in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania.
1978: ABC broadcasts the final original episode of Baretta.
1987: After 1 season on NBC and 5 more in syndication, the last first-run episode of Fame is broadcast.
1988: Voice artist Daws Butler dies in Culver City, California of a heart attack, aged 71. Butler and fellow voice actor Don Messick were responsible for most of the principal character voices in the early TV years of Hanna-Barbera. His roles included such notables as Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Quick Draw McGraw, Snagglepuss, Wally Gator, Peter Potamus, and Elroy Jetson.
1990: The surviving members of the original Green Acres cast reunite for the CBS TV-movie Return to Green Acres.
1992: Actor Marshall Thompson (Angel [1960-61], Daktari) dies in Royal Oak, Michigan of congestive heart failure, aged 66.
1995: Actress Elizabeth Montgomery (Bewitched) dies of colorectal cancer in Beverly Hills, California, aged 62.
1995: Connie Chung co-anchors her last CBS Evening News broadcast with Dan Rather. The pairing, which was never popular with viewers (and even less so with Mr. Rather), lasted about 2 years.
1996: Mystery Science Theater 3000 airs its last original Comedy Central episode. The cult show would move to SciFi the following February.
1998: Murphy Brown ends a 10-season run on CBS.
