May 2011 PPMs love country

While FMS and HANK were both basically flat [no audience loss], every DMA country station grew audience in the metro; WWKI, WKKG, WCBK, WMDH all have seen cume consistently grow in the Metro with PPM measurement the past three months.

What's up with that? :p

I'd say because half of the listening audience is either brainwashed by country music (this poster's opinion...being a rock/AOR/metal freak)...
Or it could be that every other format EXCEPT country is better served on XM/Sirius (as in more songs and NO CENSORING.)
Without censoring most formats could expand their jukeboxes...er, playlists...and get back those listeners...oh yeah and somebody in the studio that can ACTUALLY take suggestions, instead of taking the consultant's playlist as the "be all, end all" music library. Variety brings them in, changing it up every couple of weeks helps.

I'm off the damn soapbox now. Go back to what the computer tells you to listen to...

ubae is right- HANK is blowing up:
WLHK-FM 3.2 255,400 4.2 299,000 4.9 303,500 Country Emmis

However, undertheradars point/question is even more valid - between HANK's cume growth, and every ADI country station growing cume in the metro, PPM is definitely capturing a country audience surge, and why?

Too many "classic hits/rock" stations playing the
same tired songs day in and day out?

WYGB (KORN Country 100.3) is up 55.5% in cume in the last 3 months as well.

Isn't that the truth. My iPod is my buddy, though I don't have an input for my car deck...that WILL change.
