Keeping in mind the advice of David E. in prior threads, here's the May trends(Buffalo first, then Rochester)...and my thoughts....
*WYRK and WBLK remain the #1 & 2 stations in the market; 'YRK drops a bit more than 'BLK does
*Star 102.5 continues its slide(pulling a 4.0 in this trend).
*WBEN continues its recovery from late last year, matching its 8.7 from the April trend.
*WECK ties WEDG with a 3.1 in this trend; the Edge erased some of the losses from the last 2 trends while 'ECK gains.
*WBFO chugs along with overall trends in the 4's.
*WNED-FM ties WBUF-FM with a 2.6 trend. (WNED-FM's digital stream picked up a .1 .)
*WGR has lost half of its overall ratings from December(after the Bills season). Guess they kinda need sports to talk about....
As for Rochester:
*WDKX leads the market, with WBEE close behind.
*WHAM-AM is doing as well as most news/talkers out there(up nearly a full point from the December trend)
*The two classic rockers(iHeart's WAIO and Entercom's WCMF)each pull a 5.2 trend.
*WPXY leads in the top 40 race over WKGS by a 2 to 1 ratio(4.0 to 1.9)in this trend.
*If you think WGR in Buffalo is hurting by having no sports, WHTK and WROC have a double curse: no sports AND very low trends.
*Hot AC WDVI's slide isn't as bad as Star's over the last few months, but it's still noticeable(3.3 in Dec. to 2.0 in May).
