May be old news...?

I just found a stream for KAHM "Calm" in Prescott, AZ, just north of Phoenix. I've seen KAHM listed on the board here as an easy listening/beautiful music station, but I never have been able to find a website for them, until yesterday. I did find the website, and there's actually a stream for it. Of all the beautiful music/EZ stations left out there, this one is closer to the original format than any of them I've been listening to online. Most of the beautiful music stations which are left either don't stream, or they mix in quite a bit of soft AC, standards, and smooth jazz.

Anyhow, here's the link to the website and the stream. If this is "old news", sorry. Guess I'm just "out of the loop", but thought I'd mention it, anyhow. Here's the website for them.

no, not old news for me. i didn't know KAHM had any web presence at all, let alone a stream. the .info web address is a little wacky and KAHM doesn't show up near the top on google searches, which is why i guess most people didn't even know they had a site. am enjoying listening on line. i agree, this station so far is very very close to the true "beautiful music" sound of the 80s. them and www.klux.org i enjoy them as well. but klux.org is a non-profit so there's only PSA's and inspirational messages. what i'm getting a kick outta with KAHM are the extremely stodgy commercials for hip and knee replacements, nursing homes, elder care. this is great. LOL long live KAHM.

KAHM

The website URL is because somebody has grabbed the kahm.com domain.

A lot of the "call letters" domains are in the hands of cyber-squatters. One work around involves buying a .FM TLD or a .AM. .FM domains run $99/year, .AM is $35/year. We did that with radiox.fm and jack.fm and have advised other stations to do it as well. The only problem seems to be human nature. If someone mentions a domain to you, chances are if you don't write it down right then, you will go a computer and type in (nameofdomain) dot com since that is the most popular extension.

The station could go after the domain squatter (who buys it hoping that someone will offer money for it or to create traffic for another site with users typing in a phrase or name) legally or offer to buy it.
