May not be so dumb...

The Sonics have wanted to sell the inventory and control the entire editorial process of the Sonics radio broadcasts for some time. They seem to have purposely held KJR at arms length to effect that. Even under Ackerley their was plenty of rivalry between what the Sonics could package and sell and what the radio station could.

My question is why would Entercom want the Sonics unless the incremental revenue is driving the deal. Putting the Sonics on KTTH seems to be the equivilent of a Playmate in Popular Woodworking. It's doubtful that the Sonics appreciate that. KJR and the Sonics are so intertwined that 10 years from now people will still think the games are on 950. This will sound like a train wreck and we all have till next season to hear the whistle.

As always, it'll be interesting...

My question is why the Sonics would want to be on a station with 1/10th the nighttime power of KJR. Additionally, the KTTH nighttime pattern is directed away from Seattle.

I guess the Eastside listeners aren't too important to the Sonics. Either that or they didn't do their homework very well.

Great post.

There has to be something either missing or something brewing. I've got to believe that KJR reminded The Sonics about KTTH's night signal that basically covers the Burien Fred Meyer parking lot.

Or, maybe KTTH is planning a signal upgrade?

Let's think differently about this and call it a KTTH "Headfake". With Clear Channel's 104.5 coming in off Cougar soon, I think the Sonic's will be going FM on KISW 99.9 MHz. Btw, nice to see your post, Jackson. We worked together years ago.........

Actually, sqrt(50,000/5,000)=3.16 times better signal; directionalism not included, of course.
