May PPM's are out...

Movin is still number 1. KIRO AM is benefiting from he M's being in first place.

Well, the M's aren't in first any more...but their better-than-usual play probably has helped a bit. At least in the beauty contest numbers. Otherwise, it's business as usual in Seattle radio ratings.

Not that these numbers are of much use, but interesting to see KKWF so low. This is the lowest i've ever seen them on the 12+

True about The Wolf...you don't want to see a downward trend month after month, obviously.

I also wonder about Sinclair. This company focuses mainly on TV, and not sure how committed they are to radio. That being said, KPLZ is steady, but KOMO-AM is barely remaining steady, and is showing monthly downward trends. They need to figure out what to do with KVI, just not getting it done at 570. Disclaimer: These are 6+ numbers, so need to be taken with a grain of salt.

Star is printing money - that helps keep KOMO and KVI afloat. The radio-TV tie also helps. Plus radio companies still aren't in a buying mood.

Are you still believing this PPM drivel?

And even if we don't believe it, the advertising agencies and their clients do -- well, the PPM "drivel" that's broken down by demographics, not the 6+ "beauty pageant." That's all that matters.

And with the rapid growth of programatic buying, the ratings become more important as there is no relationship or value added selling.

KKWF was actually lower this past January (2.9 share), but this is their 3rd lowest month ever.

Good point, Mr/Ms. A!

That stereotype needs to die. If you listen to a modern country station today, it is basically hard guitar pop with occasional references to pickup trucks etc, sung with a very slight twang, if at all.. It is the only place where power pop with actual guitars lives anymore.

Core artists like Luke Bryan, Florida Georgia Line, Eric Church, Taylor Swift, Chris Stapleton, Dierks Bentley, Sam Hunt, and LoCash are NOT playing your dad's country. Not even your older cousin's. Almost every song is about human mating practices, either successful, not, or potential. No wonder 18 to 35 year olds groove to it!

Shania who? Garth wha? Oh yeah, think my Dad used to listen to those guys. Back when you bought these things called CDs. Whatever those are.....

The vast majority of these kids are city or suburban kids- kind of buying into the shared narrative, I get it. But I think they are self aware enough to know they are buying into something as well. But they are willing to do it. "I mean, if the girls want to dance to Jason Aldean, then by gawd guess we'll dance to Jason Aldean. I guess." I did the same thing with Styx or REO Speedwagon, I guess. (And REO Speedwagon was AWFUL. And Styx desperately wanted to be on Broadway- at least one of them. The things you do for love.)
