Usual top stations ... Interesting notes, WCGX 106.7 saw a drop.. WWCD saw an interesting slight gain.. WODC keeps having success..

No wonder WTDA/WMNI are trying something different (finally)..

Now will someone at Wilks kill off Country 107.1? (you can't be helping your sister station K 95.5 much -- as it seen a steady drop the last few months)

Oh yeah - WJKR is back in the public numbers..

K 95.5 needs all the help it can get as it has never been this low in the ratings.
Killing off Country 107.1 makes sense to me but they want to keep it country so
don't hold your breath. ;)

Just re-posting what I put in a separate thread that I started (3 minutes before this one :)). Maybe the mod can delete that one.

Some observations (of course these days all we can see are Arbitron subscribers):

CC must be really happy with both WCOL (+.3 from an already-lofty 9.7) and WNCI (+1.0) reaching a tie for the top spot at a 10.0 share. Congratulations to JohnBoy Crenshaw and Tony Travatto!

WTVN dropped again, from 7.8 to 7.1, but they always seem to rebound from such drops. E.g, in mid-2011 they dropped two months in a row and ended up at 6.8 in July, but had climbed back up to 10.6 by November.

With a 6.0 WODC 93.3 continues to pull excellent shares with oldies-type Classic Hits, a format I was suggesting for them for years while they kept hammering away with that blasted under-performing Me-Too soft AC format.

Q-FM and the Blitz had minor bumps (.1 and .3 respectively), but still no evidence yet of any rebounds. Q-FM remains a tad below the class A Brew.

102.5 is suddenly back on top of 106.7, and by a full share as the former went 2.5 -> 3.0 and the latter dropped 2.7 -> 2.0. I don't recall exactly when 106.7 went Premium Choice, but I wonder if that hurt?

Jack-FM, which had fallen from 2.1 to 1.7 last month, nudged a tad lower to 1.5. Yet their cume growth continues. In fact, Jack's cume has grown every month since November (except for Holiday, which is an oddball month for obvious reasons). Maybe that signal just doesn't have enough oomph for reliable indoor/office reception in suburban and exurban areas. Of course, there could be lots of other explanations, too. Regardless, I'm glad Radio One is (apparently) being patient here instead of fast on the trigger.

Some sources added WJKR back (late) last month, and have the full history unlike R-I.  As I've said all along, it was clearly a mistake that they were ever missing since R1 subscribes for all of its Columbus stations.

It's interesting to me to see WTVN do so 'average' in the ratings. I look at the Cincy market and WLW rules. I've always considered these two stations to be along similar lines and formats. WLW seems to have more local talent where WTVN relies a bit more on syndicated talent (Beck, Limbaugh, Hannity, the list goes on). Even wLW's overnight show is local (Steve Sommers and ATN).
In these numbers, I assume there's no way to tell what portion of the programming suffers? I'm curious as to whether Joel Riley is holding in there during the mornings. Tough shoes to fill, though. I've heard Corby rules during the late afternoon drive time. Love his show. Nice way to unwind at the end of the day. Hate to find it suffers and have Corby out the door.

Perhaps not worth starting a new thread, so I'll throw it in here:

Looks like Heather Williams is no longer at 93.3.  She had been doing nights.  On WCOL's website I still see her listed as weekends.

The new night guy at 93.3, Marty Thompson, is clearly not doing his show from Columbus.  Anyone have any idea where he's based?

He is voice-tracking from Cincinnati, and, according to their website, is also a disc jockey for WDJO 1480-AM in Cincy. WDJO is not owned by Clear Channel, though, so I'm not sure how he can work for two different radio companies.

WLW's ratings are much higher because they also own the rights to the Reds, Bengals, UC Football and basketball, and Xavier basketball (ratings are usually 12 or higher during baseball season). WTVN doen't own any sports rights, do they?

He works for "Clear Channel" and I am guessing WDJO "contracts" him for voice track services... It's not uncommon (outside of big name talent) I have quite a few friends who track for various stations in various markets under various ownership..

Heck Clear Channel Chief Engineers are known to "contract" for other stations outside their ownership.

WTVN airs Columbus Crew soccer.

That's an odd deal, too. 1460 ESPN airs an "Inside the Crew" show sometime during the week, complete with the PBP announcer, but the games are on 610.

"Inside the Crew" airs Saturday mornings from 9-10 AM.
