MAR-APR-MAY Trends 25-54

3 things jump out at me when I look at the May extrap.

1.After two unusually poor months, Spanish language radio had an excellent May. KISF mornings were bigger than life itself, especially 18-34.

2.FRESH did the right thing by going back to playing a lot of 80s music. They had a great May, slightly beating both SUNNY and MIX. Whether they have more months like this or if it was a fluke remains to be seen.

3,KWNR had one of it's lowest months ever despite a big "Rent or Mortgage" contest.
 
The country battle seems to be locked in a stalemate. Which station sounds better and what's happening with the Beasley housecleaning? Has it affected KCYE yet?
 
Beasley's KCYE is such an easy fix....get rid of the PD who doesnt know music and hire someone from KWNR that does....you have one of the old morning show guys from KWNR doing traffic for KDWN? how moronic...let Rob Banks do traffic, and put your traffic guy who was the good part of KWNR's morning show when they had ratings on middays....common sense...oh, you said Beasley! Yeah, they obviously dont have a lot of sense to hang to a PD who keeps losing to KWNR.
I remember when they had numbers...ever since they took Stunt Runt off at night, nights and mornings at KWNR have been getting their butts handed to them. Lucky KCYE have Rick and Tom in the morning.(Funny when Terrie Springs was doing their music they had better numbers...good thing she was #1 25-54 last book on sister station KKLZ...guess KCYE's PD is afraid of success, or not very smart, or both!)
 
Vegasradio, you say KCYE is hanging on to a PD who keeps losing to KWNR. Yes, 12+ KWNR has the lead, but a lot of it is 55+. In 25-54 the two stations are exactly tied in the new trend. COYOTE has medicore yet consistent numbers, while KWNR has been trending down. The overall country share is in decline.

Stonesmarconi, The two stations play similar music. KWNR plays a longer list of currents, COYOTE is more conservative, but the stations are more similar than not musically.

COYOTE has jingles, more energy and drive. KWNR has more of a background/laid back feel. About a year and a half ago KWNR changed their sound quite dramatically. They got rid of their jingles, started talking less, added dead segues, started playing recordings of listeners talking about "your music your life" and added some type of fiddle sound at the end of each sweeper. they changed their voice guy from a big voice to a more natural delivery. Their most significant change was droping a few longtime personalities.

In recent months it seems KWNR has moved ever so slightly back to the way they used to sound. For example, I hear the call letters said more often and some contesting on the weekend. It's still quite different than their pre-2007 sound. I would say KWNR has the better web site and more of a street presense at concerts and events. I believe both stations stream, you should listen to both and give your thoughts.

Why are both of the Country PD's in Las Vegas off the air? It's market 33- Not Top 10.
His blog makes sense, but some of it is bittnerness. That morning show wasn't that great.
The KCYE morning show it pretty good. I.e. Seinfeld "Who is these Stooges you speak
of" Stunt Runt? Does he need to be on one of the Vegas Country stations? What was
his act like?
