Maybe I am getting bitter in my old age?

I can't think of the artist right now (trying to block it from my memory,) but have you heard that new Hip Hop track that samples Alice Deejay's "Better Off Alone." It is BRUTAL! I am all for mixing house beats with Street beats and what have you, but that songs just ain't good! The sad thing is, it seems like many Crossover stations are jumping on it!

Or maybe I am just lame, and don't know something HOT when I hear it...

Could be both, thoughts?

I dont like it either, power 96 in Miami was playing it a few months ago, but I think they may have dropped it. It just sounds poorly produced, and like the lyrics are fighting against the beat. Like you, I usually love Dance-hip hop hybrids, but this is one dance classic that would have been better off left alone.

BTW, i listen to your Hot 96 station sometimes, its pretty cool, you seem to play alot of Breaks, and modern day freestyle that no other station plays.

Thank you for the compliment. We originally started as a 80's based dance station and morphed into heavy Freestyle, but in the last couple months have started to focus on current dance, though we still try to keep the breaks/Miami Bass feel to the station. While I am adding lots of national and worldwide recognized acts, I still try to give a lot of airplay to smaller artist (many of whom have roots in Freestyle.) The cool thing is that while we have changed a bit over the years, many of the independent artist have changed along with us. We are not one of the big boys as far as internet stations are concerned, but we try to serve our core audience as best we can...

:)

We did finally get our new website launched which was a huge deal for us, though there is still a ways to go on filling it with content.
