Maybe It Should Be "Save Us From People Who Can't Read Ratings?"

I read Save WRKO's report on the ratings a couple of days ago. Based on what they said about WTKK, I assumed Imus saved morning drive, but Michael Graham and Michelle McPhee are about to get fired, Rush crushed them at middays, and except for Severin the whole station was a train wreck.

Then I read the Jessica Heslam and the actual ratings, and it turns out WTKK is 27%, more than WBZ or WRKO. They were up in all dayparts (except late night) even with filling in. In fact, WTKK's fill ins are beating WRKO's regular hosts.

Not that WTKK is pulling huge numbers, but WRKO's 2 share in morning drive, against a fill in, is just pathetic. And Jay Severin's big afternoon drive numbers show how bad WRKO needs Howie.

So what is SAVE WRKO anyway? I mean, are they radio people or are they political people trying to make a statement about radio and don't really know what they are talking about?

This is the link to the article in the Herald.

Ummmm...One guy with a computer.

(One guy, with a computer, with a chip on his shoulder.)

Heslam noticed that while Finneran was up, he was also down from SPLY (Same Period Last Year): i.e., the ratings Scotto got last year at this time w/ the same time slot were higher. She notes that during the
World Series, WRKO's ratings dropped--well, for one thing I think game 1 was on Wed night (and thus
on WEEI). Also, keep in mind ESPN 890/1400 also was carrying the games...and maybe some people
decided to watch the game on TV.

And yes, as he always does, Bri made sure to mention that We Are Following This Story On Save WRKO Dot Com

I think a component is people's disdain for a weak AM signal before the sun comes up and after it goes down. That's WRKO's (and WEEIs) ball-and-chain. I give up on AM radio from fall through spring during the drive-time periods, and instead listen to downloaded Podcasts or FM. I think WTKK sees a bump simply because of that.
