...but following the huge success of ABC's "Dancing With The Stars" and the moderate (to date) success of Fox's "So You Think You Can Dance?", Fox has decided to broadcast a special on which celebrities will be teamed-up with champions in.....Figure Skating!

That's right! A "Figure Skating With The Stars" (which probably won't be the special's title) program!

This is a Mediaweek.com article on the program.

And the producers have lined-up several World and Olympic figure-skating champions to participate either as host (Scott Hamilton), judges (including Dorothy Hamill) or participants (Nancy Kerrigan, Kurt Browning, and others).

Given that Figure-Skating is traditionally the most popular of the Winter Olympic sports, and that skating competitions often do well in the TV ratings, it looks like this special will get very good ratings for Fox.

And like most "American Idol" viewers watch the show to hear the sometimes-nasty comments of Simon Cowell and many viewers watch NASCAR and other auto racing for the crashes, I suspect many will watch this show hoping to see celebrities with little ice-skating experience fall down and embarrass themselves!

My guess: You'll see it during the November sweeps.

I've always wondered why no network had done a reality series or special based around figure skating, actually. I was hoping for a competition show along the lines of The Ultimate Fighter or So You Think You Can Dance, but this celebrity thing is a start, I guess.

I never watch those shows! I can't stand them!
